The 1933 State of the Church coup d'état attempt occurred on 8 January 1933 when pro-Miguelist soldiers invaded the State of the Church and attempted to depose the Pope and abolish the state. The attempt failed and resulted in 900 captured Miguelist soldiers being crucified throughout January, February, and March 1933.
