The Conservative Party of Shaoyu (Monsilvan: 哨域保守党; pinyin: Shàoyù Bǎoshǒudǎng; Shaoyunese: サウヰク ボウサウ ドン), abbreviated as CPS, SBD (or サボド in Shaoyunese), is a conservative, single-state party in the Monsilvan Republic. The party only runs in Shaoyu and is in an association agreement with the Reformed National Party (RNP) whereby the RNP will not run any candidates in Shaoyu for any elections as long as the CPS maintains the party's core ideals. This agreement came as a parallel to the one signed between the Freedom and Democracy Party (FDP) and the Shaoyu Liberation Party. The party was created in January 2024 after the re-organization of the Shaoyu Liberation Party, which was formerly a big tent party focused on the removal of the Zloveshchiyan administration of Shaoyu, into a social democratic party for the new state. The CPS's first members were from the center-right faction of the SLP prior to its re-organization.
The CPS is the second-largest party in the Shaoyu State Parliament with ?? out of the total ?? seats, and is therefore the leading opposition party. The CPS also has 12 seats in the national Legislative Assembly and 1 seats in the national Senate.
History
The origins of the party can be found in 2018, with the creation of the Shaoyu Liberation Party after the passing of the RSSI Act 2018 which permitted 56 representatives in the Legislative Assembly for Shaoyunese people living in Monsilva to represent the interests of themselves and the island of Shaoyu. The party was created to be a big-tent party featuring members from a vast range of political opinions. One of the largest groups formed within the party was the Conservative Group (保守集团), which featured members of the party who sat on the center-right of the political spectrum.
After the success of the OU military intervention in Akvatika in September 2023 and the establishment of the OU mandate for Shaoyu, the SLP began re-organizing itself to serve as a functioning political party that intends to have seats in the Shaoyu State Parliament and the Parliament of Monsilva. The party chose to align itself to the center-left as they were led by Feinuo Ziming, a social democrat. This meant the other factions of the party would need to create their own parties for representation. Some members of the Conservative Group suggested moving to the Reformed National Party, but the majority agreed that they would rather have their own party which could focus more on the issues within Shaoyu. This led to the creation of the Conservative Party of Shaoyu in January 2024, immediately after which the agreement with the RNP was signed.
Policy
The Conservative Party is obligated to follow the fundamental policies of the Reformed National Party. These policies include support of a free market, tax reduction, immigration reform and globalist foreign policy. However, the party does differ in many aspects to its associated party. Unlike the RNP, the party is a much stronger supporter of the Ostlandet Union and military involvement in alliances such as ACES. Members of the party have also been described as more socially conservative than most members of the RNP.
