El Salvador, officially the Imperial Republic of El Salvador (Salvadoran: República Imperial d'El Salvador), is a country located in Sur. It is a landlocked country, bordered by Creeperopolis to the south and east and by Salisford to the north and west. Additionally, the Salvadoran government recognizes the self-declared independent country of Noundures as being located on its northern border. With a land area of 457,503 sq mi (1,184,926 km2) divided into 9 viceroyalties, El Salvador is the second smallest country in mainland Sur after the State of the Church (excluding Noundures). El Salvador's capital city is Ciutat dels Àngels, and as of 2023, the country has a population of 12.5 million.
El Salvador is heavily dependent on Creeperopolis for military and financial support and has been characterized as a Creeperian client state. El Salvador is a member of the Cooperation and Development Coalition (CODECO), a global military and economic alliance of which Creeperopolis is the de facto leading member. The Salvadoran language is the country's official language, while Creeperian is a nationally recognized language. Salvadorans compose 80 percent of the country's populations; Creeperans compose 18 percent, Castillianans compose 1.5 percent, and the remaining 0.5 percent is composed of other groups such as Hondurans, Sabotans, Salisfordians, and Sequoyans. The country's GDP is CQS₵33.9 billion and its currency is the peseta, however, the Creeperian colón is also unofficially used.

Etymology
El Salvador in the Salvadoran language means "The Savior", in reference to Jesus Christ, the central figure of Christianity. The earliest mention of El Salvador in reference to the country appears on a 15th century Creeperian map. The exact date when the country began to refer to itself as El Salvador is unknown; prior to being known as El Salvador, it was known as Pasorgen, meaning "homeland country".
During the late-19th and early-20th centuries, some left-wing Salvadoran politicians proposed renaming the country back to Pasorgen to remove the references to Jesus from the country's name. Other politicians, both left and right-wing, wanted to rename the country Granada after the Granada River which flows through the country. The origin of the name Granada is unknown. From 1933 to 1935, the country was briefly renamed to the State of Granada.
