The 2013 San Salvador Attacks was a plot formulated by the Mayor of San Salvador del Oeste, Jacobo Graciani Juderías, to assassinate Emperor Alexander II, Minister of Defense Augusto Cabañeras Gutiérrez, and Chief Mayor Martín Gutiérrez Sánchez on the ten year anniversary of the 2003 Creeperian coup d'état. The plot failed in its objectives but it killed 89 people, injured 94 more, and damaged the San Salvador Imperial Palace using ten car bombs. Jacobo Graciani Juderías was sentenced to death by crucifixion but escaped to Castilliano where he sought refuge from the Militarist Front for National Liberation (FMLN) and the Castillianan National Council of Reorganization (CNCR).
