The OU military intervention in Ajakanistan was an major military conflict in Ajakanistan that lasted for three months between 30 November 2022 and 12 March 2023. The military intervention was led by the an Ostlandet Union-led coalition known as the OU Task Force for Ajakanistan (OUTFA), which intervened against the Ajaki government in support of the Free Council of Ajakanistan. OUTFA was composed of the armed forces of Gjorka, New Gandor, and Paleocacher, and later, Baltanla. OUTFA was is further supported by military units from Creeperopolis and Pavulturilor, and from Cherzian rebels.
 +

 +
Tensions between the Ostlandet Union and Ajakanistan increased after the arrest of Ajaki Supreme Leader Vladimir Kareiv in October 2022 and the subsequent establishment of the Free Council of Ajakanistan, which the OU recognized as the legitimate government of Ajakanistan in November 2022. On 30 November 2022, the Ajak Army struck the Gjorkan city of Castlederg with a missile attack, killing 200 and injured over 3,000 including delegates of the Ostlandet Union and the Free Council of Ajakanistan. Immediately after the attack, the OU began a military intervention in Ajakanistan to depose the communist government and bring the Free Council of Ajakanistan to power. The intervention was fought on three primary fronts, simply known as the Southern Front, the Eastern Front, and the Northern Front.
 +

 +
In early-December 2022, TCN Resolution 037 attempted to establish a peacekeeping force for Ajakanistan, and the proposal was supported by the members of OUTFA, but it was vetoed by Quebecshire and Salisford. The military intervention was considered to be the largest such intervention since the CODECO military intervention in Sequoyah of 2020 to 2022.
 +

 +
The war concluded with the overthrow of Avandeyev Krasimir by his own cabinet and military. A ceasefire was called on 11 March 2023 to begin peace negotiations. On 12 March 2023, the Ajaki government surrendered bringing the war to an end, and beginning the OU occupation of Ajakanistan.

On 26 July 2021, Ajaki pro-democracy activist and politician Aleksi Norvay was poisoned on a flight from Reykanes to Ajakanistan with a Novichok nerve agent after a meeting with Reykani political leaders. He was poisoned by the Ajaki government in an assassination attempt, but Norvay survived and made a full recovery. His poisoning led to the outbreak of protests across Ajakanistan on 28 July 2021. Protestors demanded the resignation of Vladimir Kareiv, the supreme leader of Ajakanistan, the end of authoritarian rule, and the holding of free and fair democratic elections. The protests also called for an end to police violence by the Ajaki Police Force (POLAD), as police engaged in unnecessary beatings against protestors.
 +
 +
The Ajaki government responded to the protests by accepting some of their demands, and agreed to hold democratic elections and engage in democratic reforms with opposition leaders. The first Ajaki democratic election of the 21st century was held on 12 January 2022. The results were published on 26 January 2022, which showed that the ruling Ajaki People's Party (NPA) won a majority of seats in the national legislature. The results caused outrage in Ajakanistan, where many opposition leaders accused the Ajaki government of rigging the election through ballot stuffing.

The election resulted in renewed anti-government protests which demanded the removal of Kareiv, the holding of new elections, the end of police violence, and the establishment of a new legislature. Norvay, who was the leader of the Christian Democratic Party (KDP), stated the results were "clearly rigged" and called for Kareiv to be removed from office and "punished". In response to the protests, the Ajaki government cancelled the results of the election and instated a nation-wide ban of all political parties other than the Ajaki People's Party on 27 January 2022. In a speech, Kareiv stated that he knew that protests would erupt as a consequence of the election, and claimed that the protests were an example that democracy "doesn't work". The protests persisted until 2 April 2022.

On 29 January 2022, a patrol ship of the Paleocacherian Coastal Patrol (PCP) intercepted an Ajaki trawler in the Fiordland National Park as a result of a Paleocacherian government decree which called for stricter enforcement of the country's exclusive economic zone (EEZ). Upon making contact with the trawler, its crew opened fire on the Paleocacherian ship, killing one officer in the process. Although the trawler attempted to flee, the Paleocacherians managed to board the trawler and arrest its crew, transporting them to Gardena to face criminal charges. They were charged with murder, attempted murder, weapons trafficking, illegal entry into Paleocacherian territorial waters, illegal fishing, poaching a protected species, and resisting arrest.

On 10 October 2022, Oz Yehuda, a Pavulturilori communist exile in Ajakanistan, survived an assassination attempt in Zheleboksarsk, which was believed to have been carried out by Pavulturilori intelligence forces. For unknown reasons following the assassination attempt, members of Kareiv's cabinet were purged, including Leonid Luboshov, the Director of the Ajaki National Intelligence Agency (NRUA). Additionally, shortly after the assassination attempt, the Ajak Navy mobilized three ships to 300 miles south of Pavulturilor, when, on 16 October 2022, the three Ajaki ships were intercepted by 19 ships of the Pavulturilori Navy. In the ensuing battle between the Ajaki and Pavulturilori navies, all three Ajaki ships and six Pavulturilori ships were sunk. The battle was met with a response from the Cooperation and Development Coalition (CODECO), of which Pavulturilor was a member, in which Augusto Cabañeras Gutiérrez, the Minister of Defense of Creeperopolis, called for the death of Kareiv and that Ajakanistan "has already invoked war, and war is what they face".

Following the veto of TCN Resolution 036, the Pavulturilori government filed a letter of invocation to the Terraconservan International Court accusing Ajakanistan of attempting to violate its sovereign territory, attempting to support supposed war criminals, and putting civilians at "deliberate" risk. The Pavulturilori government requested a criminal trial against the Ajaki government, and against Kareiv in particular.

The court responded, stating that it found "sufficient cause to warrant opening an investigation into the allegations that the government of Ajakanistan conspired with terrorists committing violence in Pavuturilor". It granted the letter of invocation and ordered that the Ajaki government to surrender Kareiv, Mikhail Ryzhikov, the commander of the Ajak Navy, and "other officials responsible" to the court's custody for an investigative preliminary. On 24 October 2022, the Ostlandet Union (OU) held an emergency meeting in Killarney, Paleocacher, to discuss what actions should be taken in response to the Battle of the Romanyan Sea. By a vote of nine in favor, two abstentions, and two against, the Council of Ostlandet voted to condemn Ajakanistan and impose sanctions against the country. It held Ajakanistan responsible for all the casualties of the battle, and demanded "better" from the Ajaki government. Kareiv himself was in attendance of the meeting, and condemned the council's decision, claiming that Pavulturilor sent a spy to Ajakanistan and that Ajakanistan responded justly to the perceived threat. On 30 November 2022, the delegates from the Free Council of Ajakanistan and the Ostlandet Union met in Castlederg, Gjorka. There, the day prior, the Ostlandet Union announced that any Ajaki government officials who surrendered themselves in Castlederg and recognized the Free Council of Ajakanistan would be granted amnesty from crimes committed under the communist government. Among the Ajaki politicians who surrendered themselves at Castlederg was Zolin Stepanovich, the Minister of Internal Affairs. At 6:53 a.m. that day, air raid sirens sounded in Gjorka after it was reported that the Ajak Army launched three missiles towards Castlederg. The missiles struck the border crossing, a Gjorkan Army command operations center, and the town itself. The attack killed over 200 people and injured more than 3,000.

Immediately after invoking the Mutual Defense of Democracy Treaty, three corps of the Gandorian Army, composing of 160,000 soldiers, invaded southern Ajakanistan with the primary objectives of capturing the Ajaki states of Cherzia, Khalsk, Krovshny, and Valkaria. Additionally, the Gandorian Navy began shelling coastal military targets and blockaded the southern Ajaki coast. The Gandorian Air Force dropped pamphlets in Cherzia in the Cherzian, Gandorian, and Slavic languages calling for Cherzians to rise up against the Ajaki government and support the Gandorian forces. Sekorsky also called for an additional 100,000 active soldiers to move to the Ajakanistan–New Gandor border and an additional 100,000 reserve soldiers to be raised.

Along with the Gandorian soldiers, a unit of volunteer 30,000 soldiers from Pavulturilor—the 1st Volunteer Corp—joined the Gandorian invasion. The Pavulturilori forces, commanded by Major Generals Amit Levi and Uriel Eyyal, were given autonomy from the Gandorian chain of command to peruse their own military objectives. On the second day of the invasion, the 43rd Mechanized Division captured an unnamed military base in Krovshny.

By 2 December 2022, Gandorian forces captured all of Cherzia with the support of Cherzian rebels, reporting "low casualties". The 1st Corps established a defensive perimeter around its captured territories in case of an Ajaki counterattack. In Khalsk, the 2nd Corps was expected to capture the state "by Tuesday evening", while in Krovshny and Valkaria, the 3rd Corps, 4th Corps, and 1st Volunteer Corps were struggling to gain much territory due to "fierce resistance". Fedritn, the capital city of Krovshny, fell to Gandorian and Pavulturilori forces by that evening.

On 3 December 2022, Alexi Sherman, the Secretary of Defense of New Gandor, called for Creeperian aerial support in the military intervention, invoking the Treaty of Anti-Communism, of which both Creeperopolis and New Gandor were signatories. Later that day, Gustavo Leigh Guzmán, the Chief General of the Creeperian Air Force (FUAC), announced that Creeperopolis would accept New Gandor's call, stating that Creeperopolis would gladly support OUTFA against the "illegitimate communist government which currently enslaves the Ajaki population". On the 13th of December, the Reykani Volunteer Red Cross Battalion was deployed on the southern front with the Gandorian and Pavulturilori forces. The decision was made due to the invoking of the Treaty of Anti-Communism, which, Reykanes was apart of. Reykanes also sent medical aid Ajakanistan. The Battalion commanded by Petter Funason were tasked to provide assistance to volunteer units, the official armed forces and civilians. The Battalion was positioned on the battlefield along with the military.
 +
They were also tasked with setting up multiple frontline hospitals around the warzone to assist everyone and have free range of movement. By the end of the war, the battalion saved over 300 lives.

The Gjorkan military began the invasion of Ajakanistan under codename Operation Red Dawn on 30 November 2022, with primary objectives to capture the cities of Drev, Erenikzburg, Tashtemir, Valkho, and Vladimirgrad. The initial army invasion was preceded by paratrooper deployments which captured some small towns and villages. The Gjorkan Aerial Forces launched bombing campaigns in eastern Ajakanistan to support the ground invasion, primarily targeting Ajaki air bases and anti-air defenses, with army bases and infrastructure being secondary targets.

On 3 December 2022, the 1st Paratrooper Regiment landed in the city of Slavnastena. They were reinforced by units from the 2nd Central Division led by Major General Amelia MacGovern on 4 December. By 5 December, Gjorkan forces had encircled the city by a two pronged attack from the 2nd Central Division and the 3rd Roscommon Division led by Major General Ted Donohoe. Gjorkan forces in Slavnastena encountered fiercer resistance than what was faced in similar battles throughout the operation. The 2nd Central Division captured the suburbs of the city on 12 December, however significant advances on the city proper incurred fierce fighting. The Ajaki forces employed tactics of urban guerrilla warfare, leaving Gjorkan aerial and heavy armor reinforcements mostly ineffective. Advance within the city was particularly slow due to intense house-to-house clearing needed, as Ajaki forces left tripwire traps and other ambush devices within houses. Morale of Gjorkan soldiers fighting within Slavnastena was extremely low with casualty numbers the highest faced anywhere by Gjorkan forces. By March 2023, Gjorkan forces had still failed to capture the city, with Ajaki forces holding out in the downtown city proper. This lack of success led to the resignation of Major General Ted Donohoe on March 1, which halted any remaining Gjorkan advances. Ajaki forces within the city would not surrender until 12 March 2023, with the surrender of all Ajaki forces.
 +
 +
By January 2023, the Gjorkan advance had begun to slow. Gjorkan units entered the cities of Lugay on 27 December and Drev on 5 January. Fighting in these cities continued throughout the month of January, with Gjorkan progress being significantly slower than in previous battles. In Drev, Gjorkan forces took three weeks to cross the city's river due to fierce Ajaki resistance. The city eventually fell to Gjorkan forces on 15 February, over a month after the Battle began. Fighting in Lugay continued until February 21, nearly two months after the battle began. This slow progress led to increasing unrest on the home front over Gjorka's involvement in the war. Mounting pressure from both this unrest and failure to achieve significant advances, caused more drastic measures to be implemented by Gjorkan high command. This includes the controversial resignation of Major General Ted Donohoe, one of the Generals in charge of the Siege of Slavnastena, and the implementation of Operation Red Rust, an operation intended to de-moralize the Ajaki people.

As part of the OU's decommunization policy within occupied Ajakanistan was the Novoskach Trials, a series of high profile trials for high ranking members of Ajaki leadership. The trials saw thirteen defendants (Vladimir Kareiv, Avandeyev Krasimir, Dmitry Yugovich, Dmitry Munikov, Osip Sorokin, Alyosha Lebeyev, Ruslan Morankhthy, Anton Malikov and Commanders of the 66th Rocket Artillery Brigade) tried for crimes against peace, war crimes, crimes against humanity, crimes against the Ajaki people, and terrorism.
 +
 +
The trials were highly controversial with many arguing the court was too harsh and too lenient for the Ajaki leadership. In the end: six defendants, Krasimir and the Commanders of the 66th Rocket Artillery Brigade, were sentenced to death, five were sentenced to 30 years imprisonment, Yugovich, Sorokin, Lebeyev, Morankhthy, and Malikov, Munikov was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment and Kariev was found non guilty by reason of insanity.

All the defendants were sent to serve out their punishments (or care in the case of Kariev) in the victorious OU powers.

The OU military intervention in Ajakanistan[note 1] was an major military conflict in Ajakanistan that lasted for three months between 30 November 2022 and 12 March 2023.

Background

Protests in Ajakanistan

An anti-Kareiv protest in July 2021.

The Ajaki government responded to the protests by accepting some of their demands, and agreed to hold democratic elections and engage in democratic reforms with opposition leaders. The first Ajaki democratic election of the 21st century was held on 12 January 2022.[1] The results were published on 26 January 2022, which showed that the ruling Ajaki People's Party (NPA) won a majority of seats in the national legislature.[note 2] The results caused outrage in Ajakanistan, where many opposition leaders accused the Ajaki government of rigging the election through ballot stuffing.[2]

The election resulted in renewed anti-government protests which demanded the removal of Kareiv, the holding of new elections, the end of police violence, and the establishment of a new legislature. Norvay, who was the leader of the Christian Democratic Party (KDP), stated the results were "clearly rigged" and called for Kareiv to be removed from office and "punished".[2] In response to the protests, the Ajaki government cancelled the results of the election and instated a nation-wide ban of all political parties other than the Ajaki People's Party on 27 January 2022. In a speech, Kareiv stated that he knew that protests would erupt as a consequence of the election, and claimed that the protests were an example that democracy "doesn't work".[3] The protests persisted until 2 April 2022.

Ajaki–Paleocacherian conflict

On 29 January 2022, a patrol ship of the Paleocacherian Coastal Patrol (PCP) intercepted an Ajaki trawler in the Fiordland National Park as a result of a Paleocacherian government decree which called for stricter enforcement of the country's exclusive economic zone (EEZ). Upon making contact with the trawler, its crew opened fire on the Paleocacherian ship, killing one officer in the process. Although the trawler attempted to flee, the Paleocacherians managed to board the trawler and arrest its crew, transporting them to Gardena to face criminal charges.[4] They were charged with murder, attempted murder, weapons trafficking, illegal entry into Paleocacherian territorial waters, illegal fishing, poaching a protected species, and resisting arrest.[5]

Rhys McEvoy, the Paleocacherian ambassador to Ajakanistan, stated that the Paleocacherian government was not willing to extradite the fishermen to Ajakanistan, but was open to trying them through the Terraconservan International Court (CIT) should Ajakanistan wish so.[5] Gergoy Pushkin, the Ajaki ambassador to Paleocacher, demanded the immediate release of the fishermen, threatening that Ajakanistan would initiate a naval blockade of Paleocacher and escort Ajaki fishing ships inside of Paleocacher's EEZ.[6] The Paleocacherian government rejected the Ajakis' demands,[7] and on 12 February 2022, the Supreme Marshal Avandeyev Krasimir ordered the deployment of three destroyers, two frigates, one fuel tanker, and five fishing trawlers to Paleocacherian waters, claiming that Ajakanistan did not have to abide by the Terraconserva Council of Nations' (TCN) oceanic treaties as Ajakanistan was not a signatory.[8]

Ajaki and Paleocacherian naval vessels engaged in a skirmish on 20 February 2022, resulting in 600 deaths and the sinking of two ships on both sides.[9] Following the skirmish, the Paleocacherian National Assembly instituted sanctions against Ajakanistan and demanded an apology from the Ajaki government,[10] and Paleocacherian President James Fulkerson later demanded reparations from the Ajaki government.[11] After receiving no official response from the Ajaki government, the Paleocacherian delegation to the TCN introduced TCN Resolution 035 to condemn Ajakanistan's actions, but it was vetoed by the Quebecshirite delegation.[12]

On 2 March 2022, Paleocacherian Trans-Oceanic Airlines Flight 266 was hijacked by Ajakis who demanded the immediate release of the fishermen, resulting in Paleocacherian soldiers organizing a hostage rescue operation at Bostonia International Airport.[13] On 6 March 2022, the Ajaki and Paleocacherian governments agreed to enter into negotiations to defuse tensions between the two countries, and both governments signed the Zhelekabvarosk–Gardena Accord on 5 April 2022. The terms of the accord included the lifting of sanctions and the recognition of Cherzian militias as terrorist organizations by Paleocacher, and Ajakanistan agreeing to paying §22 million selkies in reparations and allowing Paleocacher to try the Ajaki fishermen and captured Ajaki seamen in Paleocacherian courts.[14]

Prelude

Battle of the Romanyan Sea

In the ensuing battle between the Ajaki and Pavulturilori navies, all three Ajaki ships and six Pavulturilori ships were sunk.[15] The battle was met with a response from the Cooperation and Development Coalition (CODECO), of which Pavulturilor was a member, in which Augusto Cabañeras Gutiérrez, the Minister of Defense of Creeperopolis, called for the death of Kareiv and that Ajakanistan "has already invoked war, and war is what they face".[16]

On 20 October 2022, the TCN delegations of Ajakanistan, Jackson, and Terranihil presented TCN Resolution 036, Condemnation of the State of Pavulturilor, to the TCN Security Council, which accused Pavulturilor of being the aggressor of the Battle of the Romanyan Sea, describing it as an "unprovoked attack".[17] The resolution was vetoed by Paleocacher and Salisford, however, and it failed to pass.[18]

Arrest of Vladimir Kareiv

Following the veto of TCN Resolution 036, the Pavulturilori government filed a letter of invocation to the Terraconservan International Court accusing Ajakanistan of attempting to violate its sovereign territory, attempting to support supposed war criminals, and putting civilians at "deliberate" risk. The Pavulturilori government requested a criminal trial against the Ajaki government, and against Kareiv in particular.[19]

Vladimir Kareiv was arrested in Paleocacher on 24 October 2022.

It also ordered the Ajaki and Pavu governments to present evidence to the court's prosecutors by the end of November.[20] The Ajaki government refused to surrender anyone to the court, and in a speech in Dariji, Kareiv called for war against imperialism.[21]

It held Ajakanistan responsible for all the casualties of the battle, and demanded "better" from the Ajaki government.[22] Kareiv himself was in attendance of the meeting, and condemned the council's decision, claiming that Pavulturilor sent a spy to Ajakanistan and that Ajakanistan responded justly to the perceived threat. He also condemned Zloveshchiy for abstaining and for signing a non-aggression pact with Gjorka, accusing them of betraying their "communistic brother" and for siding with CODECO, upon which he proceeded to throw a bottle of vodka at Alexei Volkov, the supreme president of Zloveshchiy.[23]

As Kareiv was leaving the Council of Ostlandet meeting room, he, along with Sergei Volodin, a representative of Ajakanistan to the Council of Ostlandet, was apprehended by members of the Paleocacherian National Guard and arrested. They were carrying out the Terraconservan International Court's arrest warrant, and the arrest led to many international reactions ranging from praise to condemnation.[24] Krasimir condemned Kareiv's arrest and declared the establishment of a provisional military government to "secure national stability", with him as its leader.[25]

Mobilization of OU militaries

The day of Kareiv's arrest, the Kongres of New Gandor voted to close the Ajakanistan–New Gandor border and ban all travel to Ajakanistan. The following day, Gandorian President Jacek Sekorsky announced the mobilization of 80,000 soldiers to the border with Ajakanistan in the case of a potential war against Ajakanistan.[26] Following the Gandorian announcement, Gjorkan President Carter Morris announced the mobilization of 50,000 reservist soldiers and placed a further 100,000 on "high alert". She also announced the closing of the Ajakanistan–Gjorka border and banned all travel to Ajakanistan.[27]

Formation of the Free Council of Ajakanistan

In response to the military takeover of the government, on 25 October 2022, hundreds of thousands of Ajakis began protests and riots against the Ajaki military government. Police officers were attacked in Borres, Erenikzburg, Toboshi, and Vladimirgrad, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries. Vehicles were destroyed and roads were blocked by protestors and rioters.[28]

On 13 November 2022, delegations from Gjorka, New Gandor, and Paleocacher, which included all three of their presidents, met in Cámarillo, San Carlos Islands, Creeperopolis for a summit with the Creeperian government and the exiled Ajaki royal family, led by pretender Vladimir Vasiliev, to discuss the events unfolding in Ajakanistan. After the summit, the delegations and the royal family, including Vasiliev, returned to New Gandor.[29] Vasiliev met with Norvay in Gardena on 17 November 2022 where they signed the Gardena Agreement to proclaim the establishment of the Free Council of Ajakanistan, the claimed government of Ajakanistan in exile.[30] The Council of Ostlandet voted to recognize the Free Council of Ajakanistan as the legitimate government of Ajakanistan on 29 November 2022, and recognized Vasiliev as Tsar Vladimir V.[31]

Castlederg missile strike

The attack killed over 200 people and injured more than 3,000.[32]

The missile strike caused outrage in the international community, with many nations condemning the attack. In response to the attack, the Gandorian government invoked the Mutual Defense of Democracy Treaty between it and Gjorka, stating that Gjorka was attacked by an aggressor and that New Gandor was obliged to come to Gjorka's support.[33]

Southern front

"Citizens of Cherzia take up arms against the government that so oppresses you. New Gandor stands with you and will aid you. For the Republic of Cherzia and for the Greater Republic of New Gandor!"

Gandorian Air Force, 30 December 2022[33]

Sekorsky also called for an additional 100,000 active soldiers to move to the Ajakanistan–New Gandor border and an additional 100,000 reserve soldiers to be raised.[33]

Along with the Gandorian soldiers, a unit of volunteer 30,000 soldiers from Pavulturilor—the 1st Volunteer Corp—joined the Gandorian invasion. The Pavulturilori forces, commanded by Major Generals Amit Levi and Uriel Eyyal, were given autonomy from the Gandorian chain of command to peruse their own military objectives.[33] On the second day of the invasion, the 43rd Mechanized Division captured an unnamed military base in Krovshny.[34]

By 2 December 2022, Gandorian forces captured all of Cherzia with the support of Cherzian rebels, reporting "low casualties". The 1st Corps established a defensive perimeter around its captured territories in case of an Ajaki counterattack. In Khalsk, the 2nd Corps was expected to capture the state "by Tuesday evening", while in Krovshny and Valkaria, the 3rd Corps, 4th Corps, and 1st Volunteer Corps were struggling to gain much territory due to "fierce resistance".[35] Fedritn, the capital city of Krovshny, fell to Gandorian and Pavulturilori forces by that evening.[36][37]

On 3 December 2022, Alexi Sherman, the Secretary of Defense of New Gandor, called for Creeperian aerial support in the military intervention, invoking the Treaty of Anti-Communism, of which both Creeperopolis and New Gandor were signatories.[35] Later that day, Gustavo Leigh Guzmán, the Chief General of the Creeperian Air Force (FUAC), announced that Creeperopolis would accept New Gandor's call, stating that Creeperopolis would gladly support OUTFA against the "illegitimate communist government which currently enslaves the Ajaki population". He announced the formation of the White and Gold Eagle Legion, composed of 78 aircraft of the 25th Air Force Wing, and that it would be based out of the Fort Handel Air Base.[38] Under the command of Lieutenant General Fabián Menéndez Rosales, the legion carried out its first strategic bombing campaign, Operation Wesa, on 5 December 2022, targeting the Vasaliev Army Base and the Kholodnograd Naval Base.[39]

They were also tasked with setting up multiple frontline hospitals around the warzone to assist everyone and have free range of movement. By the end of the war, the battalion saved over 300 lives.

Eastern front

The Gjorkan military began the invasion of Ajakanistan under codename Operation Red Dawn on 30 November 2022, with primary objectives to capture the cities of Drev, Erenikzburg, Tashtemir, Valkho, and Vladimirgrad. The initial army invasion was preceded by paratrooper deployments which captured some small towns and villages. The Gjorkan Aerial Forces launched bombing campaigns in eastern Ajakanistan to support the ground invasion, primarily targeting Ajaki air bases and anti-air defenses, with army bases and infrastructure being secondary targets.[40]

By 4 December 2022, Gjorkan forces captured the city of Valkho, followed by the capture of Kholshoy and Erenikzburg on 6 December and 7 December, respectively. On 12 December 2022, Gjorkan forces captured Tashtemir.[41][42]

Northern front

Paleocacherian forces stationed in Estcharia invaded south into northern Ajakanistan on 30 November 2022, with the primary objectives of capturing Agdili, Ibis, Toboshi, and Zheleboksarsk, the capital city of Ajakanistan. Artillery fire and aerial bombardment by the Paleocacherian Air Force preceded the invasion to weaken defenses.[43] Paleocacherian forces began attacking Zheleboksarsk on 3 December 2022,[44] and the city's embassy row was was captured on 5 December 2022.[45]

On 3 December 2022, Quốc Phi Nguyễn, the President of Baltanla, announced that the Baltanian Army would deploy 45,000 soldiers to assist the Paleocacherian forces in Ajakanistan.[46]

Surrender of Ajaki forces

As the war progressed, and an OUTFA victory became inevitable, the three heads of state of OUTFA met in Gardena. [47][48] The summit saw the three heads of state establish a post-war framework for Ajakanistan including establishing a post-war tribunal to try Ajaki leadership, drawing post-war occupation zones, and declaring OUTFA will accept no other outcome then unconditional surrender of Ajaki forces. [49]

By 10 March 2023, the situation continued to deteriorate for Ajaki forces as Gandorian forces announced the capture of Novoskach. [50] The same day, members of the Ajaki cabinet and Ajaki military who opposed Krasimir and continuing the war formed the New Socialist Vanguard of Ajakanistan. The New Socialist Vanguard ousted Krasimir from power in a coup d'état, declared minister of foreign affairs Viktor Kavolskiy to be the new Supreme Leader, and immediately petitioned for a ceasefire with OUTFA forces to negotiate a peace treaty.[51] This ceasefire was later accepted by OUTFA forces the next day, and the two sides met in Kholodnograd.[52]

On 12 March 2023, Viktor Kavolskiy, acting on behalf of the Ajaki government and armed forces, capitulated unconditionally to the OUTFA.[53] All members of the Ajaki military were ordered to stand down and surrender to the nearest OU forces. Additionally it required the Ajaki government to release "any and all prisoners of war" held within 72 hours.

Aftermath

OU Occupation of Ajakanistan

Novoskach Trials
