The Liga Creeperiano (translated as: "Creeperian League") was a football league which existed in Creeperopolis from 1950 until its dissolution in 1953. The league was founded in opposition of the Liga Primera, which had existed in 1904, and sought to compete with the league to be the premier Creeperian football league.

The league's existence caused much controversy within Creeperopolis, as the league was not authorized by the National Football Association (ANF), the primary governing body of Creeperopolis, and declared that all results of Liga Creeperiano matches were null and void, while the leadership of the Liga Creeperiano claimed that the Liga Primera was an illegitimate body rooted in leftist politics of the Second Parliamentary Era.

History

Conflict with the Liga Primera

As of 1950, no professional football had been played in Creeperopolis since 1932 before the start of the Creeperian Civil War in January 1933. The largest professional football league was the Liga Nacional, which was governed by the National Football Association (ANF), the country's governing football body. The National Football Association announced that the Liga Nacional would return for the 1952–53 season, and that it would be rebranded to the "Liga Primera" to not confuse the league with the National Council for Peace and Order (National Council) which was defeated during the civil war by the victorious Catholic Imperial Restoration Council (Imperial Council).

Domingo Venezuela Salinas, who founded the Liga Creeperiano, in 1951.

The decision to delay the new league season until 1952 caused some controversy within Creeperopolis, who called for the league to be fast-tracked to begin in 1951 instead. The National Football Association decided to hold a large, nationwide tournament in 1951, known as the Victory Cup, as a compromise, to allow for matches to be held in 1951 and to keep the league delayed until 1952. Additionally, the tournament would determine which clubs would participate in the Liga Primera's inaugural season.

The Victory Cup compromise did not satisfy everyone, however, and some still called for league matches to occur concurrently with the Victory Cup. In response to the National Football Association's failure to begin the Liga Primera in 1951, Domingo Venezuela Salinas, a Creeperian businessman and retired footballer, announced on 15 September 1950 of the establishment of the "Liga Creeperiano", a new football league which would compete against the Liga Primera as the country's premier football league. He criticized the National Football Association's decision to delay the Liga Primera until mid-1952, and stated that the Liga Creeperiano would begin in January 1951, and called upon the clubs which were in the 1932 Liga Nacional to join the new league.

Quickly after Venezuela Salinas' statement, the National Football Association threatened to permanently ban and strip every achievement of any club which joined the Liga Creeperiano, and declared the league to be illegitimate, illegal, and unauthorized. Venezuela Salinas rebuked the National Football Association's statement, and called on clubs to ignore the statement and join the Liga Creeperiano regardless, promising the league to surpass the Liga Primera in talent and revenue.

In the end, none of the clubs which participated in the 1932 Liga Nacional, or in any Liga Nacional, joined the Liga Creeperiano. The only clubs which had previously competed in any league organized by the National Football Association to join the Liga Creeperiano were CF Cádiz, CF La'Laguna, and CF Nueva Valencia. Due to only three clubs actually joining from the National Football Association, the Liga Creeperiano was forced to establish five new clubs to bring the total club count to eight for its inaugural season. The five new clubs were CF Atlántida, CF Atlético de Aguilares, FC Castilliano, CF José Flores Carpio, and CF Zapatista.

The National Football Association announced on 1 February 1951, that all clubs, players, managers, and referees who played for the Liga Creeperiano would receive lifetime bans from competing in any ANF-organized league. The bans likely had an impact on the Liga Creeperiano's growth, as no further clubs would join the league after the bans were announced. From 1951 to 1952, the Liga Creeperiano and Liga Primera competed to sign new players to their league, but the Liga Primera held the advantage due to its larger size and longer history.

Dissolution

The 1953 Liga Creeperiano season began on 11 January 1953, with Cádiz and Nueva Valencia being favorites to win the league that season. On 19 January 1953, the day after the conclusion of round two, Venezuela Salinas disappeared from his home in Panachor. The Creeperian Imperial Police searched for three days until 22 January 1953, when police officers discovered his body in a shallow grave on the outskirts of the city. The police reported that "visible signs of torture" were present on Venezuela Salinas' body, indicating that his kidnapping and murder was premeditated. The National Intelligence Directorate (DINA) took over investigation of the case, but quickly closed it, ruling that he was murdered by the far-left New Atheist Red Army (ERAN).

On 23 January 1953, the Creeperian government announced the nationalization of the Liga Creeperiano, and promptly announced the league's dissolution at 3:30 p.m. that same day. The government transferred the league's eight clubs to the control of the National Football Association, which promptly announced the "immediate dissolution of the eight rebellious clubs". The National Football Association reiterated that all players, managers, and referees who participated in the Liga Creeperiano would be permanently banned from the sport.

Venezuela Salinas' death has since led to various conspiracy theories which claimed that he was killed by the government on behalf of the National Football Association, which saw the Liga Creeperiano as a threat to the Liga Primera's dominance as the top flight of Creeperian football. The 1953 season of the Liga Creeperiano was never finished.
