The capital city of Rakeo, a cultural and governmental center, and the fastest growing city on the island. Olino has in the past witnessed numerous cases of violence, particularly between rival gangs, but today enjoys development and unparalleled prosperity compared to its history.
History
City founded
Olino was founded in 512, as a fishing settlement under the rule of a small council of tribal leaders. These pioneer settlers called their settlement Olino, or "The Homeland" and had little interest in exploration at first. But as settlers, they were among the first to settle in areas once classified as the inland woods.
Agarian Era
By 1300, Olino had become Rakeo's most populous city, and fisheries were rapidly disappearing. An army of foresters, officials and lumberjacks burned wide swathes of forest for use in agriculture. The new source of food, combined with new proposals to expand the infrastructure for railways, streets, power and other infrastructure proved effective, and the growing city spread further and further out into the existing forest. By the middle of the 14th century, hundreds of hectares of former forest had been destroyed. As the population expanded, so did the physical footprint of the city, from a small series of villages, outposts, and hamlets of just over 500 houses to a new thriving city with over 3000 houses.
New Expansion
In 2002, the city created a department of trees and timber to oversee the harvesting of areas once classified as "deep woods", which where originally protected from logging.
Geography and climate
The typical climate of Olino is dry winters followed by torrential spring rains, which often result in flooding.
Cityscape
The Directory of Architecture designed the standardized housing unit in 2001 as a means to help with an ongoing housing crisis, while many of its internal elements date to the pre-SRR era, the design was transmitted into architectural practice throughout Olino and Rakeo. The prefabricated block nature of these buildings are considered to be a typical characteristic of "national" architecture in modern Rakeo.
Climate
As the city's climate is fed by a current of warm winds from the adjacent Southern Sea, Olino has a wet but cool summer.

Demographics
The Rakeoian country has traditionally been heavily xenophobic, preferring native citizens over non-Rakeoian immigrants for jobs, recruitment. Due to this, immigration into the country is extremely restricted, with immigration to Olino in particular being nearly impossible. With isolationist nature of the Rakeoian society, very few communications with other cultures are allowed and all foreign speakers are required to get specialized entry permits for entering Olino via the rail network.
Religion
Staying in line with the rest of Rakeo's religious restrictions, Catholicism is strictly prohibited by governmental decree following the conclusion of the Rakeoian civil war. This can be found in the Strict Church Laws, a collection of edicts passed by the imperial government following Rakeo's coup d'état, which states that any citizen found unlawfully attending a unlicensed church or bearing cross iconography must be executed by public firing squad. Any minor infraction can lead to a citation and reduced rations.
Economy
The economy of Olino and Rakeo in general, is heavily industrialized; it is home to several companies specializing in wood processing, concrete manufacture, and metal stamping for weaponry. The amount of wealth the city creates per year is enough to empower a number of distinguished individuals within the government structure, especially in the Directory of Industrial Matters.
Culture
Visual arts
Nationalist government propaganda lines the streets, exposing themes of the glory of the state and the ills of the enemy. The centerpiece of the propaganda is, of course, the Rakeoian civil war. With the fading of the Theocratic Rakeoan Republic, the propaganda has moved to a new style and focuses on external enemies, often portraying foreigners as an ailment on the island. Some of the more popular themes are espionage, the importance of "wartime readiness", and terrorist activities by foreign powers. The endless fear of foreign enemy forces is the basis of most propaganda, which keeps the public on edge.
Cuisine
Olioni cuisine consists of thirty ration sets. But the food ration is considered very good by Rakeoian standards, allowing for most citizens to get through the year on three fourths of their ration card. After a ration card is exhausted, citizens must harvest root vegetables and other ingredients, often normally done during the year to supplement the rather bland taste of certain ration packs.
Government
Local city governance is limited, but existent to some extent in Olino. This has been the case in Rakeo since the Stratocratic Revolution, and similar setups are seen in other cities today. Since Rakeo does not have seperation of branches of government, or majority rule, local residents are occasionally alienated by governmental policy. However, these similarity in governance has led to Rakeoian cities and villages having highly integrated communities, which makes them safer and more similar to each other. In Olino, the city government today primarily controls the three main "middle" institutions, public schools, non-military construction, and deforestation procedures.
Education
The major focus of the education system is military instruction, as it is the only major life experience that most students will have. Olino has plenty of jobs in the military, including from pilots, project managers, mechanics and soldiers. Beyond simply military careers, those who show special academic merit are taken by the Directory of the Sciences to be trained in specialized fields.
Infrastructure
The Directory of Transportation Operations is the primary department for providing daily and weekly (excluding holidays) non-stop transportation throughout the county of Olino, be it by rail, bus, or aircraft. Olino is home to Olino International Airport (OIA), two major rail lines, a local bus service. Cars are uncommon, as both rubber and gasoline are regulated and rationed commodities.
Development
A new rail line currently under construction will connect Olino with Paragon for increased freight loads by 2021. As of 2022, a projected 600,000 to 700,000 pounds of metal is to enter the line, in 2023 and after, metal will continuously account for at least 30 percent of the initial capacity increase over a 50 year period. A similar highway/rail link between Olino and Paragon is under development to facilitate an expected increase in interregional traffic.
