Department flags of Creeperopolis
The following article displays the flags and historical flags of the 31 departments of Creeperopolis, the country's first level subdivisions.
On 22 January 1889, the Creeperian National Parliament passed the Departmental Flags Act which mandated that all of the country's departments had to adopt a departmental flag by 31 December 1889. The law was passed in an effort to promote a sense of departmental pride, as prior to the law being passed, all subdivision flags were banned to prevent separatist sentiments from arising. The law encouraged departments to display their culture and history on their adopted flags.
Following the end of the Creeperian Civil War, the General Courts decided to allow the departments to retain their flags but ordered some departments to change their flags, either because they displayed left-wing symbols, displayed non-Catholic symbols, or were used by former separatist movements.
