Atlántida is bordered by the departments of La'Libertad del Sur, Costa Rica, Atlántida del Sur, and Nuevo Atlántida. It has coastlines on the Bay of Atlántida, the Senvarian Sea, the Strait of Atlántida, and Lake Atlántida.
Atlántida is named after the former Kingdom of Atlántida.
