The Călăneasan Offensive (Illyrian Iberic: Impeo de Calanaesa), also sometimes called in academics the Third Călăneasan War (January 16, 1946 – August 2, 1948), was a war theater of the South Ecros War that was fought between the Kingdom of Pavulturilor and the communist forces of New Illyricum, Terranihil.

Following the invasion of Alaia by Pavulturilori troops in December 1945, New Illyrian Marshall of War Adrianus Dophus and Terranilian President Enkart Vaslsat devised an offensive into Călăneasa in northwest Pavulturilor. Facing pressure from Jackson on the Jack River and Eleutherios at Oikos, Terranihil could not sustain a third front in Alaia and needed to gain swift victory in Călăneasa.

Background

Members of the Red Hand in Marathon in January 1944.

In April 1944 the Eleutherian Civil War broke out after Eleutherian communist forces, known as the Red Hand, led a coup in Marathon and after a long battle eventually captured Erimos before advancing to Corinth in an attempt to overthrow the Federalist government of Eleutherios. Eleutherian General Dimitrios II led an Eleutherian counter-attack, fueled by Jackian material aid, driving the communist forces back to Erimos in later 1944. Communist leader Zaharias V called for military aid from communist Terranihil, who had previously been supplying arms and funds for the Red Hand, and in February Terranihilian President Enkart Vaslast ordered the invasion of Eleutherios.

Terranihilian troops advanced quickly into southern Eleutherios, bolstering the ranks of the communists and driving back against the counter assault. Outnumbered, Eleutherian troops were slowly forced back to Corinth and Terranihilian troops began to encircle the nearby capital of Oikos entirely in early _____. Corinth was captured by communist troops in ______ and soon after the communist forces assaulted the capital.

In order to limit Jackian aid to Eleutherios, Terranihilian ships blockaded the Jack River in December 1945, drawing Jackson into the war. Just two days later, Kivu and Pavulturilor joined Jackson and Eleutherios in the Coalition and Pavulturilori forces invaded Alaia, taking Terranihil by surprise. A week later Comintern announced its official military support of communist forces in the conflict, and conflict began to erupt along the New Illyrian-Pavulturilori border.
