Politics of Monsilva |
---|
The diplomatic foreign relations of Monsilva are conducted by the Department of Foreign Affairs which is lead by the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. Monsilva has diplomatic relations with most nations in Terraconserva. It is also a member of the Ostlandet Union and the Global ACES program.
After the Monsilvan Civil War ended in 1830 and the Kingdom of Monsilva was established, Monsilva began opening itself up to the world. The country was quickly modernized by an influx of diplomats and other foreign officials establishing missions and trade agreements. Monsilva began rapid economic development which helped it gain a noticeable position on the world stage.
Since the establishment of the Monsilvan Republic in 1978, Monsilva has maintained a strict policy of 'peace over conflict'. It claims to take a pragmatic stance on international affairs and has fundamental goals of preserving world peace and supporting modernization. Most of Monsilva's governments have claimed that they are neutral in global politics, however this has been disputed, especially since they joined the Global ACES program.
