The 2023–24 Trurnia riots, also known as the Trurnia Pro-war Riots and the Trurnia Pro-communist Riots, are an ongoing series of riots and attacks in the city Trurnia, New Illyricum, which have claimed the lives of over 2000 people. The riots have been organized by the Peoples' Global Communist Unification Coalition (PGCUC), the Free Ferunian Army (LAF), and several other terrorist groups. The riots began in October 2023 in an attempt to stop the Pretoria Palace Summit, however after the Pretoria Peace Accords the riots turned into anti-Democratic Party actions which ramped up after the 2024 New Illyrian marshall election.

St. Gregorius' Cathedral Bombing

Following the beginning of negotiations at the Pretoria Peace Summit, the militant communist revolutionary group the Peoples' Global Communist Unification Coalition , lead by Araeno Blaço, organized a protest bombing of St. Gregorius' Cathedral in downtown Trurnia. The Cathedral was likely selected as the target for its Catholic usage and for the fact that it had long served as a symbol of Trurnian cultural unity since the Ferunian Separatist War which had racked the region. The bomb was placed by a PGCUC operative taped under the center altar and was set off during the 8:00 PM Romano Standard Time evening mass on October 12th. The explosion went off at exactly 8:34, immediately killing over 100 seated near the altar, including Patriarch of Illyricum Roro Toleo, before setting fire to two adjoining chapels, each primarily made out of wood. The fire killed over 100 more attempting to flee the burning cathedral, several sections of which collapsed due to age of the structure. Marshall of Trurnia Luçeo Mareo immediately ordered the deployment of police and firefighters along with ambulances to counter the destruction.
