In Salvadoran politics, elections are held to elect various government officials at national and local levels. At the national level, voters elect a president, vice president, and legislators of the Tribunals Generals. At the local level, voters elect mayors and municipal council members.
All presidential and legislative elections are held on a five year cycle while local elections are held on a three year cycle.
