The 2004 Monsilvan senate election was held on Saturday 14 August 2004 to elect members of the Senate for the 38th Parliament of Monsilva. The election was fairly stagnant for most parties, with the leading Freedom and Democracy Party only gaining 1 seat, while the Reformed National Party lost 2 seats. The election was the last before the district re-organization which increased the senate seats from 65 to 75 for the 2008 senate election.
The stagnant change in this election was not as predicted, as the FDP was expected to increase by more seats than just one. However, in the Legislative Assembly, the FDP saw unexpected gains instead. The Liberal Party was also expected to make losses as the Kong Tsai scandal in 2000 had not yet left many people's minds, however this did not happen, and instead the party gained a seat.
All 65 seats in the senate were up for election, and as tradition, the election took place at the same time as the 2004 federal election.
