The Monsilvan Communist Party (Monsilvan: 山国共产党; pinyin: Shānguó Gòngchǎndǎng), is a communist party in the Monsilvan Republic. It is one of Monsilva's oldest parties that are still operating, having been founded in October 1918. During its early days in the Kingdom of Monsilva, the Monsilvan Communist Party was closely aligned with the Communist Parties of Baltanla and Zloveshchiy, however over time their relations started to drift apart as the MCP focused on making allies with other Monsilvan parties rather than trying to become a dominant party. However, this non-dominance lead to many factions splitting off from the party, such as the Monsilvan Jiangist Party which was formed originally in 1942 as the Petrovist Party of Monsilva until it renamed itself to the MJP in 1973 after the death of Jiang Zedong. The MJP re-united with the MCP in 1978 after the establishment of the republic as the party went under a unified leadership and its underdog policies were abolished.

Since the establishment of the republic in 1978, the party has seen very little success, failing to gain any seats in any legislature higher than county and city councils. However, the party was often in the top 10 most voted for political parties during elections up until 2020. The party won its first seats in the 2023 federal election, which took place after the Legislative Reform Act 2023 and the Electoral Reform Act 2023, winning 4 of the 454 seats in the Legislative Assembly. The party does not run candidates for senate elections or state elections.

Policy

Unlike many communist parties around the world, the Monsilvan Communist Party supports multi-party democracy. The party supports a socialist economy and establishment of social security, justice and welfare. These policies have often faced criticism from many communists in Monsilva who believe that the party isn't truly communist.

Party policies include:

  • Abolish the senate, and have the Legislative Assembly as a unicameral legislature.
  • Promote Monsilvan pacifism, decrease foreign military involvement.
  • Continue to condemn nations which represent a bad name for the 'true Marxist ideology'.
  • Unite the roles of prime minister and president, creating a strong single leader elected by popular vote.
  • Increase funding for welfare programs.
  • Encourage industries to be under state control and increase investment into public transportation and manufacturing.
