Party of the Emperor (Monsilvan: 皇帝党; pinyin: Huángdìdǎng), is a monarchist party in the Monsilvan Republic. The party's aim is to return the monarchy of Monsilva and establish the emperor as the nation's head of state once again. The party is lead by a chairman, however the party has two other important roles, being the Pretender, who is the current Head of the House of Wang, and the Eternal Leader, which is Emperor Wang, who founded the party in 1943, the same year he became emperor.
The party is also a member of the Imperial Alliance alongside Alternative for Monsilva and Revive Monsilva. Importantly, the party is not endorsed by the current, legal (in terms of pre-republican succession laws) pretender to the Monsilvan throne and Head of the House of Yan, Wu Zhao. Wu, although having said she is completely willing to become Empress if it is what the people wish, has also said she does not want to be nor wants to endorse an authoritarian or corrupt monarchy.
The party is highly nationalist, with many of the party's leaders having been criticized for stating that Monsilvan should be a 'single ethnic nation' and that the country should distance itself from most countries. Although it formally endorsed many authoritarian nations and constitutional and absolute monarchies alike, in its modern years the party has been more critical of other monarchies, especially those that are closely associated with religion. Some political commentators have observed these positions as 'strange' considering they are distancing themselves from countries which could like support them should they gain any significant traction in Monsilvan politics again. Others even believe that the reason the party has not done so well in recent years is partly due to their xenophobic viewpoint.
Notes
- ↑ The Eternal Leader is the Wang Emperor, who founded the party and served as emperor of the Kingdom of Monsilva from 1943 to 1978. Despite having been killed at the end of the 1978 Monsilvan protests, which lead to the establishment of the Monsilvan Republic, he continues to serve as the party's eternal leader.
