The 2020 Monsilvan federal election was held on Saturday 22 August 2020 to elect members of the Legislative Assembly of Monsilva for the 42nd Parliament of Monsilva. The incumbent RNP government lead by Xu Yan saught to win a second consecutve term, and was successful, although it lost one seat to the FDP. All 254 seats in the Legislative Assembly were up for election as no by-elections took place in the last year. In the separate 2020 senate election, which took place at the same time, all 75 senate seats were up for election as well.
The Reformed National Party retained its majority, holding the minimum number of seats (127) for a majority in the Legislative Assembly. Becoming the second RNP prime minister to serve more than one term after the establishment of the Monsilvan Republic. The only change to the seat composition since the 2016 federal election was the return of Tangbu County in Wuzhong to FDP, after changing to RNP in the 2016 election. Although Lin Yao-tang was unable to win this election, both him and the party wanted him to remain as leader in hopes of winning the next federal election.
The popular vote for the RNP decreased by around 4 percentage points, which was a worry to the party, who feared they may not win the next election unless they gained more popularity during Xu Yan's second term. The stagnation of seat change in this election begun the Monsilvan Electoral Reform movement, which was officially endorsed by the FDP.
