The 2008 Monsilvan senate election was held on Saturday 16 August 2008 to elect members of the Senate for the 39th Parliament of Monsilva. The election saw the Freedom and Democracy's biggest success in the senate, reaching 37 seats, which is just under 50% of the senate's total seats. The election took place at the height of Prime Minister Suen Shi-huang's unrivalled popularity which likely helped the FDP's success in the senate. This election was also the first after the district re-organization which increased senate seats from 65 to 75.
The Reformed National Party saw a small loss of only 1 seat, while the Liberal Party of Monsilva saw a large gain of 5 seats, which is an increase of 4.8% out of total seats in this election and the 2004 one. All 75 seats in the senate were up for election, and as tradition, the election took place at the same time as the 2008 federal election.
