The 2012 Monsilvan senate election was held on Saturday 18 August 2012 to elect members of the Senate for the 40th Parliament of Monsilva. The announcement of Prime Minister Suen Shi-huang's resignation damaged the FDP's results as his successor, Lee Su lacked the incredible reputation Suen had developed. Fortunately for the party, they still managed to retain a lead in the senate, but did not gain any seats to create a majority.

The Reformed National Party however, saw an increase in 2 seats, likely thanks to RNP Leader Bai Yun's efforts to regain the party's earlier popularity which had been damaged by former RNP leader Ning Liao. The Liberal Party also managed to gain 2 seats.

All 75 seats in the senate were up for election, and as tradition, the election took place at the same time as the 2012 federal election.
