History
In the 1920s, the Maroto Aircraft Company sought to beat the Botín Aircraft Corporation's P-1 to be the first passenger airliner to be delivered to the newly established national airline, Creeperian National Airways. In 1928, the Maroto MA-1 was displayed in San Salvador and flew for the first time. In late-December 1932, SANIC placed an order for 50 Maroto MA-1 aircraft, however, the outbreak of the Creeperian Civil War in 1933 resulted in the order never being fulfilled.
Only one prototype for the Maroto MA-1 was ever built. The sole prototype was used by the Creeperian Army of the Catholic Imperial Restoration Council to transport important officials. The Maroto MA-1 was scrapped and replaced in 1934 by the Maroto MA-2.
