Gregorio Mareteneo (August 16, 1854 - July 4, 1910) was a New Illyrian Tierrasur explorer who most notably led the Mareteneo Expedition in 1910 to the South Pole, where he died. It is believed that Mareteneo may have been the first person to reach the South Pole with that expedition, however neither he nor his companions survived the expedition and the first official person to reach the South Pole was Paleocacherian Theodren Cúchulainn and the Cúchulainn South Pole expedition on December 11, 1910. Gregorio Mareteneo led several prior expeditions as well, mapping sections of the Tierrasurian coast near the Maretenean Sea.
