Elected Leader of the Senate

Wen Zhu
Reformed National Party

The 1984 Monsilvan senate election was held on Saturday 11 August 1984 to elect members of the first Senate for the 33rd Parliament of Monsilva. This was Monsilva's first senate election and therefore determined Monsilva's first senate. The election inaugurated Wen Zhu as Monsilva's first Leader of the Senate as well as giving his party, the Reformed National Party, the biggest majority in a Monsilvan senate so far. Alongside the RNP entering the first senate was the Freedom and Democracy Party with 23 seats and the Liberal Party with 3 seats.

All 60 seats in the senate were up for election as there was no previous senate. The election taking place at the same time as the 1984 federal election began the tradition for senate elections to take place at the same time as federal elections.
