Publius I (c. 608 - December 3, 660) was the second king of Illyricum from 653 to 660. Publius came to power after helping orchestrate the killing of king Cornelius I of Illyricum, who had lost support amongst the arising Illyrian noble class. As king, Publius led a series of military campaigns against the Romanyan Empire in 653 and later against the Rashidun Caliphate in the First Italian War. Publius would fall ill and die in 660, choosing his younger son Titus I as his successor, which would lead to further political discord when his elder son Marcus I took power soon after.
