Tiberius Claudius Caesar Augustus Maurtanius (August 1, 10 BC - October 13, 54 AD) was a Romanyan emperor, ruling from 41 to 54 AD. The son of Crispus, Romanyan emperor from 2 to 14 AD, and Antonia the Younger, Claudius was excluded from government for most of his early life. Claudius would come to power following his consulship in 37 and during the reign of his nephew Caligula from 37 to 41. After the Pretorian Guard assassinated Caligula in 41, Claudius was proclaimed emperor. As emperor, Claudius helped lead the Romanyan conquest of Vaktria and later Yacaria. Following his death, Claudius was succeeded by his grandnephew and adopted son Nero.
