Petrov Era
Petrov's selection was controversial as he was seen as having little experience with foreign affairs that would equip him to serve the national interest over personal interest. Petrov announced a policy to close embassies or that didn't "serve Icarisian interests". He also replaced several long time Ambassadors and officials. In 2071, he closed the embassies with Gabrovo, Florani, Portview Echo, Kegizia, Bezawit, Zanzimar, Mopaz, Hezruit, Cyzzan, and recalled the Ambassadors to Xinglao (Arthur Speck, served in post for 12 years), Krystallum (Grayson Yelnatz, served in post for 11 years), Huangul (Don Bildowitz, served in post for 16 years), Amberia Island (Lisa Liebers, served in post for 8 years), and Kathmantu (Frank Allen, served in post for 6 years). These ambassadors were replaced by energy tycoon Bray Braddock, veteran RAMP official David Patterson, billionaire tech company CEO Kent Ichanda, billionaire heiress and government official Pamela Jackar, and former CFO for Paragon-Global Solutions Ira Sachse; respectively.
Petrov also replaced Maria Doubrava as Deputy Minister of International Relations with fringe global security expert, businessman, and political activist Ben Shepherd. He replaced the Deputy Minister of International Integration and Organizations with John Cochran in 2071. Also in 2071, he appointed fossil fuel investor Howie Pembrook as the Deputy Minister of Environment, Energy and Resources. Upon naming David Patterson as Ambassador to Krystallum, Petrov selected billionaire automotive CEO Brandon Nielsen as his Deputy Minister of International Trade and Business.
