Sasha Petrov (b. 2006) is a former Icarisian Ground Force officer, businessman, politician, and organized crime boss. He was the founder and CEO of the defense contractor, the Trovos Corporation. He then served as the State Delegate from Eskimone's 1st District but resigned after two years due to a pending bribery and fraud investigation. He was selected as the 8th Minister of International Relations to succeed Jānis Kulda in 2071. He was responsible for the largest executive branch corruption scandal in the history of the Theocratic States of Icaris, infecting multiple levels of government for years. He was convicted of corruption, fraud, bribery, and organized crime and is currently serving a life sentence.

Early life and childhood

Military career

Petrov was a decorated intelligence officer in the Icarisian Ground Force.

Post military career

Petrov became a prominent defense contractor after leaving the military. His company, the Trovos Corporation was the largest contractor used by the Icarisian armed forces. As early as 2051 (9 years after founding the business), Petrov was under speculation for running the company as a front for organized crime. No official investigation was launched until much later, possibly due to a large network of connections between the Trovos Corporation and government officials. The company gained large success during the wars of 2058-2061 under President Santiago Franco.

Paragon-Global Solutions was a defense contractor founded by Grayson Calhoun. In 2042, the Trovos Corporation bought out PGS and fired Calhoun.

2064 State Delegacy election

After being elected to the Council of Delegates in 2064, Petrov became under investigation for bribery and fraud in relation to the election. Due to increased speculation and criminal investigation, Petrov resigned from the post in 2066. Following his resignation he was charged but a mistrial was declared after key evidence was thrown out.

Minister of International Relations (2071-2073)

In 2071, with the departure of Jānis Kulda as Minister of International Relations, President Tommy Papillion selected Petrov to fill the position. Many were critical of the choice and eventually led to the investigations into the corruption of the Papillion investigation.

Papillion Corruption Scandal

Petrov was involved in an organized crime corruption scandal that was laundering money, padding executive budgets with illegal funds, giving political favors to corporate interests, and obstructing justice to suppress investigations. The scandal ended in the indictments of Petrov, President Tommy Papillion, former RAMP Director Marco Herrera, Minister of Defense Mikhail Travnikov and Minister of Judicial Oversight Dominic Yarema. Papillion, Herrera and Minister of Health and Medical Services, Kyle Greensworth, were all assassinated, Yarema and Vice President Will McKenzie committed suicide. Travnikov is currently a wanted fugitive with a warrant out for his arrest. The ramifications of the incident have led to major overhaul of government oversight and newly launched investigations into government corruption, specifically in regards to campaign finance and government budget/expenditure setting.

Petrov was the only one successfully convicted and is serving prison time. There is significant evidence supporting claims that he is in charge of the criminal organization operating out of his company, The Trovos Corporation.
