The Wars of the North Rivers was a set of military conflicts fought from 1823 to 1831 between the Second Republic of Illyricum and the Kingdom of Ferunia and Trurnia. Illyrian forces, led by president of Illyricum Romulonysyos Anyastynaxos invaded Ferunia and Trurnia in 1823, fighting King Livius II of Ferunia and Trurnia across modern day central Illyricum. At the Siege of Montcabralo in 1828 Livius was killed and Illyrian forces captured and destroyed the city of Montcabralo, leaving Livius' thirteen-year-old daughter Maria IX and IV as Queen. Maria and her regent, Marius Obrius continued fighting against Illyricum for three years until the Battle of Gobolana in 1831, after which Maria was forced to sign the Treaty of Marina and later escaped into exile in the State of the Church
