Gagium, alternatively Not Gagium and previously referred to as Mr. Gagium, is a politician and citizen of The League who is currently serving as a Consul on the Consulate of the Republic. Gagium joined NationStates on 8 April 2017 and moved to the Confederation of Conservative Nations the same day. Throughout his career on NationStates, Gagium has held various political and military positions in The League, the Federation of Conservative Nations, and informally in the Monarchist and Democratic Alliance.

Gagium helped found the Federation of Conservative Nations in 2017, and quickly became the region's Secretary of Internal Affairs after serving as Secretary of Roleplay in the Confederacy of Conservative Nations. Gagium became President in April 2018, and put down the coup attempt by Crimsonfield in September 2018 while being DDoSed in the process. Gagium would serve as Secretary of Internal Affairs and Secretary of War under numerous Presidents, and was elected to President in a snap election in March 2020. Gagium left the Federation of Conservative Nations for The League in April 2020, along with several other members of the region. Shortly after, the FCN was disbanded by the Senate.

Through holding several leadership positions in the Federation of Conservative Nations, Gagium was regarded as a relatively trusted member of the region by many until the dissolution of the Federation. In the League, Gagium served as a Council Delegate and later as the first Speaker of the Council. Gagium was removed from The League in April 2021 for intentionally breaking server rules in a protest related to a prior administrative ban.[1] In late 2021, Gagium joined the Republic of Conservative Nations and later led a successful effort to "dissolve" the region.[2] On January 21, 2023, Gagium's ban from The League was rescinded, and he rejoined the region and was granted citizenship. Gagium was appointed to the role of Director of Culture on April 2, 2023. Gagium resigned from his role as Director of Culture after being appointed to the Consulate of the Republic on 11 January 2025.

Personal Life

Terraconserva

In The League's roleplay, Gagium roleplays the nation of Lurjize, a semi-presidential republic located in Sur. Lurjize is an impoverished member of the Cooperation and Development Coalition suffering from high levels of corruption, exceedingly common civil rights infringements, foreign interference in politics from nations like Creeperopolis, and an effective one-party state. Lurjize was an isolated amalgamation of indigenous nations until it was colonized by Creeperopolis in the 1400s. The nation gained its formal independence from Creeperopolis in 1918, but would continue to be a puppet state on the fringe of Creeperopolis' sphere of influence through the present.

On 15 July 2023, Lurjize voted in favor of TCN Resolution 38, Condemnation of the Democratic Islamic Republic of Sconia. On November 15 2023, Lurjize voted in opposition of TCN Resolution 39, Repeal of Condemnation of the Democratic Islamic Republic of Sconia. Lurjize's votes were in line with the rest of CODECO, who opposed Sconia for reasons varying from geopolitical opposition to Sconia to islamophobia. Neither resolution is currently canon to the Terraconserva roleplay as of 12 July 2024. On 19 September 2023, Lurjizean President Anri Akhalaia claimed that he would send soldiers to assist Monsilva in the OU military intervention in Akvatika. However, according to independent observers, Lurjize never sent soldiers to fight alongside Monsilva, and the statement was likely a publicity stunt.

Gagium is relatively active in the roleplay's out-of-character discord channels. Lurjize is often memed about due to its road system and poverty. These jokes are often magnified for comedic purposes, with others purporting Lurjize to possess roads with dozens of lanes as well as endemic hunger and starvation. On 23 March 2024, Majocco drew a piece of propaganda depicting the "average Lurjizean" as a rat advocating for the "femboyification of TRA." Since then, anti-Lurjizean sentiment in Terraconserva has significantly increased, with others often claiming that Lurjizeans are rats or making racist statements targeted towards Lurjizeans. On 18 May 2024, Sconia claimed that "Lurjizians share 50% of their DNA with rats."

In 2020 and 2021, Gagium formerly roleplayed the nation of Gagium, a Quebecshirite ex-colony that was a member of the Terraconserva Economic Union. Gagium was known for being the most liberal nation of the Terraconserva Economic Union, and had a more mixed stance on issues such as Terranihil than other TEU members.

Wealth

As of 11 August 2020, Gagium has an approximate net worth of ∞ FCN Dollars. However, Gagium has previously had a net worth of -∞ FCN Dollars after a failed blackjack attempt, though he quickly regained the money through unknown methods.[citation needed] Gagium was active in the gambling scene when the Leaguecredit was introduced as a currency in the League, leading to him attaining a net worth of 10,000 Leaguecredits by 9 August 2020. This quickly dropped to 0 through his gambling, and Gagium become notorious for his failed gambling attempts and persistence in spending his money. He regained a net worth of above 10,000 Leaguecredits on 11 August before losing his money to more failed gambling attempts. Gagium had a net worth of -211,000 Leaguecredits as of 15 August. Around this time, Gagium founded the Shadow Realm, a place where Leaguers with a negative net worth resided.

During the September 2020 LCN Economic Crisis, Gagium took out numerous loans from Creeperopolis and Kanjuura that he used on gambling. This was done with the purpose of causing a "great deflation" to ruin the regional economy. However, he won his bets, the three decided to cause a hyperinflation crisis instead. The regional economy increased by 1,069.31% after the crisis, and would continue to rapidly inflate through early 2021 until several individuals, like Creeperopolis and Quebecshire, had a net worth of ∞ Leaguecredits.

Gagium had an economic rivalry with Quebecshire during this period, where the two competed to give out loans to unsuspecting victims in order to increase their own net worth at the cost of permanently indebting victim. However, by the time of Gagium's departure from the region in April 2021, Quebecshire had come out on top of this rivalry with a net worth significantly greater than Gagium's. At this point, Gagium and others were effectively reliant on Quebecshire's loans in order to continue funding their operations, fluctuating between having an extremely low net worth and extremely high net worth depending on the results of gambling using loaned wealth.

In early 2024, Gagium briefly took part in the economy using Coconut, a bot developed for The South Pacific that was present on The League and Concord's discord server. Accumulation of wealth was extremely tedious using Coconut, as the only way to consistently gain large amounts of wealth was through usage of the "!payday" command. On 3 April 2024, Gagium successfully scammed Kivu by getting him to type "!bank transfer @Gagium 10000” in the economy's thread in #bots-and-spam. This resulted in Kivu transferring 10,000 credits to Gagium, the equivalent to using the !payday command 83 times. At minimum, this amount of wealth would take 6.9 hours of consistently using the command (which had a five-minute cooldown) in order to obtain. Shortly after the scamming operation, Gagium returned his wealth to Kivu.

Gambling

It is alleged that Gagium had a crippling addiction to gambling Leaguecredits in 2020 and 2021. This became a joke in the community that persisted after the Leaguecredit was eventually discontinued.[citation needed]

On 14 August 2020, Gagium loaned 90,000 Leaguecredits from CFAC and gambled it all with roulette. After Gagium won, he paid CFAC back 99,000 and paid another loan he took out from Spode. Gagium still had over 60,000 Leaguecredits after repaying the loans. However, Gagium soon lost this money, so he took out another 90,000 Leaguecredit loan from CFAC and gambled it all to earn 180,000 Leaguecredits. After paying back the loan, Gagium made a profit of 81,000 LC.

This however quickly changed, as Gagium gambled that away and ended the day with a balance of nearly -220,000 Leaguecredits. On 30 August, Gagium went from having a net worth of over 380,000 Leaguecredits (being first on the leaderboard) to having a net worth of roughly -560,000 Leaguecredits (last on the leaderboard) thanks to gambling.

Public Image

In the FCN

During Gagium's time in the Federation of Conservative Nations, Gagium has served as President, Secretary of Interior Affairs, Secretary of War, and in other officer positions. Because of this, many nations saw Gagium as a trusted member of the region and as a capable leader. Gagium participated in five Presidential Elections, winning three out of five of them. His participation in the January 2022 FCN Presidential Election was viewed negatively by members of the Conservative Party, who believed that they could have won had Gagium not joined the race.

However, many people have also viewed Gagium unfavorably for some of his actions in the FCN, including somewhat frequently getting into arguments despite holding the role of Founder. In the final days of the FCN, several people believed that Gagium acted as if he was above regional law, and as a result of this, prepared to move to a different region. This image of Gagium was solidified after an argument he had with Dragons of Power which resulted in him purging the argument. While Gagium maintains that he was just trying to clean up the channel and admitted to everything he did, people such as Logon and Viridus accused him of deleting evidence. While the incident caused many people to form unfavorable opinions of Gagium, Dragons of Power himself has since forgiven Gagium for the incident, and others still viewed Gagium somewhat positively.

Crimsonfield and his associates viewed Gagium extremely negative during their time in the FCN and were working on removing him from the Presidency before some of them got banned for treason and being involved in Crimsonfield's illicit actions and violations of regional law. At least two regions were formed by Crimsonfield as an attempt to destroy the FCN.

RCN

After Gagium left the FCN, people such as COT accused Gagium of treason against the region, abandoning the FCN or killing the FCN, and wishing ill will against the community. While many people view Gagium unfavorably in the Republic of Conservative Nations, some people, such as New Waldensia, maintained that they still hold some respect for Gagium. Regardless, Gagium has opted to not participate in the RCN to avoid unnecessary drama or conflict.

By May 2022, Gagium had participated in the RCN roleplay and politics at the behest of the Furbish Islands. He was viewed unfavorably by former FCN members such as West Phoenicia and Ifrimia, who would later go on to form the right-wing region The Pangaean Union. Gagium's effort to dissolve the RCN, assisted by former FCN allies and Attancia, was especially controversial, and a source of contention during the final days of the RCN.

Miguelist election

On 21 August 2024, Gagium ran against Gjorka for the office of best Miguelist. The election was held in Terraconserva's discord channels, and began after Gagium and Gjorka engaged in a debate over who was the best Miguelist on the night of 20 August 2024. Both candidates heavily used language similar to United States presidential candidate Donald Trump while arguing, both to mock Trump and to mock each other. Voting for the election opened on 21 August 2024 at 12:30 am EDT, and closed 24 hours later. Immediately after polls opened, Gagium led Gjorka 4 votes to 2 - however, the odds heavily shifted in Gjorka's favor after he secured an endorsement from Anjan Kloss, a member of the Consulate. By 9:30 am EDT, held a 20–6 lead over Gagium. However, Gagium began campaigning sometime around 2:00 pm EDT, and took the lead at 6:50pm EDT, with 17 votes to Gjorka's 16. Gagium led Gjorka in the following hours. However, at 8:36 pm EDT, Quebecshire endorsed Gagium and stated that he wouldn't betray Gagium if Gagium removed Jack Empire, his running mate, from his ticket. Gagium refused, and Quebecshire eventually began heavily campaigning in Gjorka's favor after 11:00 pm EDT. By the time polls closed on 22 August 2024 at 12:30 am EDT, Gjorka led Gagium 30–17. Quebecshire's campaign strategy involved sending messages to Gagium voters, sometimes offering rewards to those who would switch their vote. After Quebecshire began campaigning for Gjorka, Gagium claimed that the Consulate was interfering in the election, and he adopted the slogan "STOP THE STEAL" to protest this.

During the election, several misleading statements regarding Gagium were made. According to a propaganda poster first posted by Gjorka on 21 August 2024 at 5:10 pm EDT, Gagium was responsible for the decline of Miguelism as a result of rising costs. The misleading poster claimed that Gagium was responsible in rent costs increasing by 22% and 'K-12 food' costs increasing by 66%. However, this information could not be confirmed according to independent sources. Gagium questioned the content of the poster by asking, "What is a 'K-12 food'???" Gjorka repeated the claim in the poster that Gagium "increased prices" at 7:40 pm EDT. At 8:56 pm EDT, Gjorka claimed that Gagium accepted a bribe from the Consulate, indicating a possible reason why Quebecshire endorsed him.

Anjan Kloss made several misleading claims about Gagium on the campaign trail. At 3:36 pm EDT, he claimed that Gagium "eats WHITE GUY TACOS," a claim that was quickly refuted by Creeperopolis, a League-based factchecker. At 6:47 pm EDT, Anjan Kloss claimed that Gagium "MUST have DEMENTIA." Shortly after, at 6:52 pm EDT, Anjan Kloss claimed that Gagium was "literally a squg." However, according to a DNA test that was verified by independent factcheckers, Gagium does not have Sequoyan ancestry.
