The Big 6 Scandal, also known as the Baltimore Sun Scandal or the Maguire Scandal, is a major political controversy in Gjorka of alleged political corruption from the administration of Carter Morris. The name "Big 6" originates from the six largest companies implicated in the scandal: Agnico Iolar, Bord Gáis, Bowen, Cruach Éire, Marq Gual and Xeler. The scandal has been described as the largest in Gjorka since the Laura Samille Scandal in the early 2000s.
The scandal was first reported on by Rhys Maguire of the Cedonia Independent, but became national news following a report published by the Baltimore Sun on September 2, 2024. The Sun article alleged Morris and her administration arranged backroom deals for companies who made significant campaign contributions to Morris and her party Gjorka United. Allegedly, Morris met with international figures to allow special access for the companies into the specified country. The scandal also alleges the Morris administration used the founding of the Ostlandet Union, the OU military intervention in Ajakanistan and the OU military intervention in Shaoyu to secure these deals. Major Gjorkan politicians implicated in the scandal include Morris, Vice President John Burreaux, Supreme Marshal Odhrán Doolan, and Gjorkan Ambassador to Monsilva Victor O'Lynn among others.
The scandal has raised widespread backlash in Gjorka to the Morris administration, with Morris receiving condemnation from across the Gjorkan political spectrum. The scandal has also had major affects on the campaign for the 2024 Ostlandet Union membership referendum.
