Aftermath
Domestic reactions
In Itse Ulagohisdi, the Sequoyan Electoral Commission declared Yansi Degotoga as the winner.[1]
In Western Sequoyah, the Sequoyan Electoral Commission declared Gawonii Tooantuh as the winner. In a speech from Western Sequoyah's capitol building, Tooantuh stated that he would "continue to uphold the rights of all citizens in Western Sequoyah". Incumbent Federalist Governor Atohi Waya congratulated Tooantuh.[2]
Allegations of fraud
After the Sequoyan Electoral Commission declared Degotoga as the winner in Itse Ulagohisdi, supporters of the Democratic Party and the Republican Party held protests in Monowi against the results of the election. Protestors accused the commission of having committed fraud by transferring votes away from Yansa and in favor of Degotoga. Protestors also criticized the electoral system in use in the province, as Degotoga did not win a majority of the vote.[1]
In Western Sequoyah, defeated Democratic candidate Ahuli Ahuyala accused the Sequoyan Electoral Commission of having committed fraud. He alleged that the commission declared valid votes for him as invalid while declaring invalid votes for Tooantuh as valid.[2]
