The Generation 4 Rifle, also called the G4R or R480, is a Rakeoian select-fire rifle chambered in the 8x40mm rifle cartridge. Like the G3 Rifle, it was designed to use parts from the G2 Rifle. It's introduction coincided with the renewed offensive at Paragon, a turning point of the war.

History and design

According to the Rakeoian government, the G4R was designed as a replacement for the outdated G2 Rifle for the TRR's forces, and was designated R480 because of its utilization of the the 8x40mm cartridge- Later, when the design was stolen by a defector, the militia forces designated it as the G4 rifle. The industrial sector of Paragon produced thousands of the rifles, most of which fell into enemy hands after a protracted siege of the city. Unfortunately, the rifle suffered from many of the same drawbacks that made the G2 unsuitable to cold weather warfare, restricting its use to the north of Rakeo.

Allegations

However, the government pushed narrative is immediately called into question due to the fact that the rifle bares a striking Creeperan Figueroa-24, a weapon already in production five years prior. The R480 designation is alleged to come from the fact that the base weapon was made in 1948. While the Rakeoian variant has some superficial changes to the original- Namely, being rechambered in 8x40mm, and adopting a heavier gas tube, these changes were likely due to a lack of access to proper metal forging machines.
