He embezzled the equivalent of 60 million credits of infrastructure spending. When caught, he refused to resign, stating that "it was the will of the people for me to have this money, and I shall respect their wishes". Despite widespread outrage, he maintained a positive image in the public eye through charitable donations.

When war broke out in Rakeo, Vaneles moved out of the country- It's believed that he was living in Reia.
