Voters elected the country's president and vice president for a six year term. + | On 23 February 2020, incumbent President Cheasequah Waya won re-election with 51.49 percent of the vote, negating the need for a second round in March 2020. The political opposition accused Waya of having committed electoral fraud by inflating his vote total in order to avoid a second round. Although several opposition parties submitted petitions to the Sequoyan Electoral Commission (SAA) to nullify the results of the election, the SAA certified the election results on 15 March 2020. | ||

The 2022 Sequoyan presidential election was held in Sequoyah on 27 February 2022. Voters elected the country's president and vice president for a six year term. The election occurred concurrently with Senate, People's Assembly, and gubernatorial elections. The 2022 presidential election was the first to occur under the country's fifth constitution and following the Cooperation and Development Coalition's (CODECO) military invasion during the Sequoyan Civil War.
Several candidates participated in the 2022 presidential election. The frontrunners were Major General Atohi Dustu of the National Reconstruction Party, who was serving as the CODECO-installed provisional president of Sequoyah, and Wohehiv Avonaco of the Republican Party,[note 1] who was serving as the governor of Cheyenne. Other candidates included Ahuli Ahuyala of the Democratic Party; Atsadi Onacona of the Federalist Party; Amadahy Chasse of the Socialist Party; Mati Jistu of the Liberal Democrats for Progress and Change; Kanati Junaluska of the Sequoyan Independence Party; Salali Tsiya of the National Accountability Party; and Agasga Uku, an independent.

Political background
February and October 2020 elections
On 23 February 2020, incumbent President Cheasequah Waya won re-election with 51.49 percent of the vote, negating the need for a second round in March 2020.
