History

Early Settlement 2500-753 BC

The first Saratovans moved into the area of modern Saratov around 5000 years ago from across Southern Ostlandet, these peoples were primarily nomadic but for unknown reasons, speculated to be the favourable climate for agriculture, these nomads settled down in the area and gradually settled into small towns and villages, forming city-states and various tribal kingdoms.

The Khanate 753-430 BC

The Saratovan Khanate was created when the already large Novat Tribe, conquered much of the modern day boundaries of Saratov along with Akhmola and areas outside of the two nations (WIP), the Khanate was known contemporarily as the "Sea-to-Sea Empire" as a result of its boundaries. The Khanate was maintained throughout much of the ancient period but collapsed sometime in the 430 BC's due to either rebellions or succession crisis due to the death of all members of the ruling Novat tribe.

Politics

From 477 AD to 1889 AD Saratov was an absolute monarchy governed by the House of Ruro, this changed with the 1889 Saratovan Constitution, in effect making Saratov a semi-constitutional monarchy as the 1890 Tzar Supremacy Act allowed for the Tzar to maintain some of his powers such as the ability to summon and dismiss the ruling government as well as dissolve the Common's Chamber if he could obtain unanimous from the Ducal Chamber. So, from 1890 to 2023 Saratov was ruled as a semi-constitutional monarchy, with this only being interrupted three times in 1905, 1963 (for a few days) and finally in 2023 which is when Alikhan II of Saratov declared the dissolution of the Common's Chamber and in effect restored Saratov to an absolute monarchy after 134 years of semi-constitutional monarchism. A new Constitution is planned for release in June 2024.
