The prehistory of Terranihil is the history of cultural and religious changes, as revealed by archaeological evidence, prior to written traditions in Terranihil. Archaeological evidence suggests that Homo sapiens and other hominid species originated in what is modern day Malgax and that early humans took routes through Terranihil to colonize southern Ecros and Sur, meaning the area has an extensive unrecorded human history. Not only have many cultures and traditions of humans lived here, but also many species of the genus Homo.

The prehistory of Terranihil as part of the prehistory of Ecros is conventionally divided into the Paleolithic Terranihil, Epipaleolithic and Neolithic Terranihil, spanning the time from the first settlements by archaic humans about 2 millions years ago until the beginning of historical record during early Ayreoshubia around 3500 BC. This period is followed by the bronze age and iron age as part of the ancient history of Terranihil

Impact of location, climate, routes

The diverse climate and geography of Terranihil has been a significant influence on human history in the region. Central Terranihil consists largely of vast inhospitable swathes of desert, with the exception of the mideastern montane region, and the Sadical Mountains. The coastal regions however are more temperate and suitable for agriculture and life (see ecoregions of Terranihil. This explains the increased human presense and beginnings of human civilizations on the coastal regions.

Palaeolithic period (2,000,000-20,000 BC)

The earliest trace of human occupation in Terranihil is in modern say X along the X river in north western Terranihil dated back to c. 2,000,000 years ago. These early humans were related to the Oldowan culture of the early Paleolithic, which predated Homo sapiens. These groups used simple stone tools and likely did not utilize fire. Evidence of human presence on the easten coast of Terranihil dates back to c. 1.4 million years ago relating to Acheulian culture.

More evidence exists from many sites dating between c. 2,000,000 and c. 250,000 years ago. These contain evidence of fire utilization and domestication of dogs. The Middle Paleolithic in Terranihil was characterized by the Mousterian culture and spanned frorm c. 250,000 to c. 48,000 years ago, known from several open and cave sites. The Late Paleolithic is dated from c. 48,000 to c. 20,000 years ago.

Humans during this period and the epi-paleolithic existed mainly as hunter-gatherer societies.

Epi-Palaeolithic period (20,000 - 9,500 BC)

The Epi-Palaeolithic period is characterized by cultural variability and wide spread of the microlithic technologies. This period was likely the origin of the bow and arrow in the area. Evidence of sedentary societies, including the X culture, which existed from c. 13,000 to c. 9,800 years ago, appear in eastern Terranihil.

Neolithic period (9,500 - 3,500 BC)

Only humans of the Homo sapiens species existed in the Neolithic period. Pottery was developed early on, some of the first megaliths were constructed, settlements became more permanent, and the transition to agriculture began in the so-called Neolithic Revolution. There was extensive cultivation of grains, as well as olives and vines, on the both the eastern and western coasts. Long range trade increased significantly, indicated by the movement of particular rocks and resources such as obsidian.

This period saw the development of language and significant cultural changes. The proto-Ecro-Avansertian people and their language differentiated into the separate proto-Ayreoshubic-Creeperian, proto-Terranilian-Azumanakan, and other families. The proto-Ayreoshubics, who separated from the the proto-Creeperian diaspora earlier in the 5th or 4th millenium BC, settled on the eastern coast of Terranihil, Greater Sacramento, Malgax, and Quebecshire. The Proto-Terranilic-Azumanakan settled west of the coast in the desert aand montane regions of the north eastern Shazaqana mountains.
