Leslie Kirth King (May 3, 1932 - August 21, 2014) is a former President of Gjorka from 1989 to 1991. Prior to his ascension to the presidency he served as an assembly member from Roscommon. King is the shortest serving president in Gjorkan history.
King was born in Gjorka City to politically connected parents. His father, Archer King, was Mayor of Gjorka City from 1944-1962, and thus from a young age King had access to important political connections. Eventually when the dictatorship fell in 1972, he ran for election and was able to become an assembly member from Roscommon. Throughout his tenure he became a well-respected and well-liked member of the assembly often receiving praise even from his opposition. Thus when the Gjorka Times dropped their bombshell report in 1988, and President Milhous was removed from office, he was an obvious successor choice. Later that day on February 2, 1989 the National Assembly voted 73% in favor of King assuming the presidency and he was sworn in later that day. King's tenure was mostly uneventful as the popularity of the presidency had been tanked by Milhous. His most notable achievement is the new gjorkan constitution, and the start of the Federation of Gjorka. He did not run for election in the 1991 Gjorkan presidential election, and retired from political office following Wilson Aldrich's rise to the presidency.
