The International Chess Federation or World Chess Federation, commonly referred to by its Rakhi acronym FBS (Rakhi: Федератсияи Байналмилалии Шоҳмот), is an international organization based in Rakhman that connects the various national chess federations and acts as the governing body of international chess competition. The FBS was founded in Novinsk, Rakhman, on 23 February 1891. Its motto is Ба сӯи Ғалаба ҳаракат кунед, Rakhi for 'Move toward victory'. As of October 2022, there are TBD member federations of the FBS.

Role

The FBS's most visible activity is organizing the Terraconservan Chess Championship since 1908. Another flagship event is the Chess Olympiad, a biennial chess tournament organized since 1895, in which national teams compete. In alternate years, the FBS also organizes the World Team Championship, in which the best teams from each continent compete.
