General elections occurred in the Free Republic of Noundures on 1 June 2023. Noundurians elected the president, all 21 members of the National Legislative Junta, and all 7 viceroyal governors. The right-wing Movement for Noundurian Integration (MOVINOU) was the only political party allowed to participate in the election.
Presidential elections were originally scheduled for 2027 and legislative elections were originally scheduled for 2024, but the assassination of incumbent President Malaquies Llorca Caparrós in February 2023 resulted in his successor, Amèric Perarnau Agué, moving the dates of both elections to 2023, seemingly in an effort to legitimize his rule and appease international observers. The 2023 election was the first time in Noundurian history where presidential and legislative elections were held concurrently.
The election resulted in Perarnau Agué being elected with 317,874 votes, or 100 percent of the vote, and the Movement for Noundurian Integration winning all 21 legislative seats and viceroyal governorships.[1]

Background
General Malaquies Llorca Caparrós was elected as the president of the Free Republic of Noundures in the 2015 presidential election, winning 100 percent of the 267,631 votes cast. He succeeded Cabdill Ezequies Gavalda Monreal, who had been serving since 2003. Llorca Caparrós was elected to a second six-year term in the 2021 presidential election. As all president have done since Cabdill Octavi Reixachs Sardans (1979–1991), in March 2022, Llorca Caparrós announced that he would not seek a third term as president.
On 3 February 2023, Llorca Caparrós was assassinated by the Military Intelligence and Security Service (SISM), the Salisfordian government security agency, in Olèrdola with a car bomb.[2] The assassination resulted in General Amèric Perarnau Agué, the minister of defense, to assume the presidency, declare a state of emergency throughout the country, and place the country on high alert for a possible Salisfordian military offensive.[3]
As a result of the assassination, on 18 February 2023, Perarnau Agué declared that the 2027 presidential elections would be moved up to be held on 1 June 2023 and that presidential terms would be extended to ten years. He also formally declared that he was running for president in 2023, after many had speculated that he would run for president for the 2027 election.[4] On 22 February 2023, he also announced that the 2024 legislative elections would be held on the same day as the 2023 presidential election. Both statements were confirmed by the Noundurian Election Integrity Committee, the Noundurian government agency which oversees the conduct and ensures the integrity of the country's elections.[5]
