The president of Monsilva is the head of state of the Monsilvan Republic. The president is directly elected to a five-year term in a two-part system where the winner of the second part becomes the next, or continuing, president. The officeholder, as well as being the head of state, represents Monsilva internationally and is commander-in-chief of the Monsilvan Armed Forces. Since the office was established in 1978, there have been five presidents, including incumbent Chiu Zan. Monsilva has had three male presidents and two female. The first president, Xu Zhou-da was also the official founder of the Monsilvan Republic and is the second-longest serving president at 15 years. Monsilva's third president, Chen Bai-xin is the only president to have not been elected as he took over when president Guo Ming-chen resigned in March 2000. Chen is also the shortest serving president at only 3 years and 10 months, as he lost the 2003 presidential election.
Ling Mu was Monsilva's first female president, as well as the first president with a background in the Liberal Party, as all previous presidents had been members of the Reformed National Party. Although presidents become non-affiliated the moment they are inaugurated, they can be elected as representatives of a political party, which is the case for all Monsilvan presidents.
Chiu Zan is considered one of Monsilva's most popular presidents, with her popularity being considered responsible for the formal abolition of presidential term limits. She is also the first president to be elected for a fourth term, and is the country's longest serving president surpassing Xu Zhou-da in 2024.
