Peil's sole professional league was originally the state-run [[Patriotic League]], however the SPG emerged as a competitor to the Patriotic League. The Gjorka Peil League (Gjorkan: Sraith Peile na Gjorkan) is a professional Peil league in Gjorka. The League consists of 20 Teams. The SPG is the largest sports league in Gjorka, and highest level of Peil in the world.

The SPG was founded in 1920 as a recreational service for veterans of the Second Gjorkan Civil War. Over the years the league eventually became entirely professionalized. In 1951, the League was renamed to the Patriotic League in an effort by the Gjorkan government to associate the league with Gjorkan nationalism and Peil was named the national sport of Gjorka. Following the Black Revolution, the league was renamed back to the SPG.
