The Progressive Party of Shaoyu (Monsilvan: 哨域进步党; pinyin: Shàoyù Jìnbùdǎng; Shaoyunese: 𖩓𖩩𖩈𖩔𖩅 𖩆𖩁𖩚𖩎 𖩤𖩂) is a liberal, single-state party in the Monsilvan Republic. The party only runs candidates in Shaoyu and is a member of the Liberal Parties Agreement, a coalition led by the Liberal Party of Monsilva (LPM). As part of the agreement, the LPM does not run any candidates in Shaoyu for any elections as long as the Progressive Party maintains the party's core ideals. This mirrors the agreements signed between the Freedom and Democracy Party and the Shaoyu Liberation Party and between the Reformed National Party and the Conservative Party of Shaoyu. The party was created in January 2024 after the re-organization of the Shaoyu Liberation Party, which was formerly a big tent party focused on the removal of the Zloveshchiyan administration of Shaoyu, into a social democratic party for the new state. The Progressive Party's first members were from the liberal and centrist faction of the SLP prior to its re-organization.

The Progressive Party of Shaoyu is the third-largest party in the Shaoyu State Parliament with 26 out of the total 174 seats. The party also has 7 seats in the national Legislative Assembly and 2 seats in the national Senate.

History

Although the party was founded in January 2024, its origins are from 2018, with the creation of the Shaoyu Liberation Party after the passing of the RSSI Act 2018 which permitted 56 representatives in the Legislative Assembly for Shaoyunese people living in Monsilva to represent the interests of themselves and the island of Shaoyu. The party was designed to be a big tent, featuring members from a vast range of political opinions. One of the groups created was the Liberal and Progressive Group (自由进步集团), which featured members of the party who associated themselves with centrist and liberal ideals.

After the successful invasion of Akvatika and creation of Shaoyu as a state of Monsilva in 2023 and 2024, the SLP began re-organizing itself to serve as a functioning political party with a focused ideology in the State Parliament and national Parliament of Monsilva. This led to the Liberal and Progressive Group founding the Progressive Party of Shaoyu and joining the Liberal Party of Monsilva's Liberal Parties Agreement in January 2024.

Policy

Unlike the agreements between the other Shaoyu-only parties and Monsilva's national parties, the Progressive Party of Shaoyu is not obligated to follow the fundamental policies of the Liberal Party of Monsilva. Instead, policies of the three members of the agreement are decided in frequent meetings of each of the party's top members. Although the parties align on the vast majority of their policies, the Progressive Party of Shaoyu has been described as being more economically socialist than economically liberal. The Progressive Party also has a much more extensive welfare agenda designed for Shaoyu than the Liberal Party does for Monsilva.
