The Reykani Air Force (Reykani=Flugherinn Reykani),(Salisfordian: Aeronautica Militare Recania) is the air force of Reykanes. It was established as a separate arm of the Reykani Defence on 10 November 1950. The FR's peacetime establishment is approximately 950 employees (officers, enlisted staff and civilians). 600 personnel also serve their draft period in the FR. After mobilization the FR would consist of approximately 1050 personnel. Its mission is to guard and protect the sovereignty of Reykani airspace, and jointly with the other branches, to protect territorial integrity. It is the smallest of the three branches in the Reykani Defence.
At the creation of the Air force, it inherited the planes from the Army of Reykanes, however they were extremely outdated, so immediately a modernization process started.
The infrastructure of the FR includes two air bases. Hóll and Hafnir and 2 training centres at Værnes and Leoburg.

History
1950-1957
After the Communist revolution ended, the country was in the process of reforming the military. The Reykani People's Air Force was created on 10 November 1950. It inherited the planes from the Army of Reykanes, which was outdated by a lot. In the start of the jet age, with biplanes, the Air Force was already obsolete, it was powerless against a modern air force. It was viewed as the weak point by many. The first main mission was to modernize the air force as quickly as possible. The Air Force expanded rapidly with aircraft exported from other socialist countries, like when Reykanes recieved 50 Kislota Ki-21's from Zloveshchiy, which proved vital for the Air Force, they were in use till 1979. However local companies did try creating local aircraft. All of the AF22's were scrapped for metal and so were some of the IS26's, what was left, they were upgraded. Several local made aircraft were created such as the: FG11, FG22, FG33 (Transport/Bomber planes), FG53 (Sea Plane), FG44 (Single-engine three-seat naval anti-submarine aircraft), only a handful were built. There was one prototype jet Aircraft known as the FG55, however only a mockup was built.
1957-Present
After the coup was successful, the military was reorganized once again, It was renamed to the Reykani Air Force. The Air Force had a vital role in the Ajaki–Reykani War, mostly intercepting Ajaki aircraft and patrolling local waters, it was unpopular bombing Ajaki positions, which would have resulted in the destruction of the city, however there was an attempt to bomb ajaki vessels. It was the only conflict so far for the modern history of the Air Force under the Republic. Afterwards the Air Force wasn't disbanded unlike the military was for a short time, rather it was downsized over the decades. After the 1970s slowly more modern aircraft were made or imported in. By the late 2010s, the Air Force was gradually expanded, however by not a lot.
