The Kivuian Defense Forces (Kivuian: Verteidigungskräfte), informally referred to as the KDF or the Kivuian Self Defense Forces, are the unified military forces of Kivu. Established in 1907 as the successor to the Royal Kivuian Military, the KDF includes the Navy, the Air Force, and the Army. They are controlled by the Department of Defense with the President as commander-in-chief.
