The Kivuian Air Force (Kivuian: Luftwaffe) is the smallest of the 3 branches of the Kivuian Defense Forces, with roughly 22,000 active personnel as of 2020. The Kivuian Air Force was founded on August 7th 1932.
The Kivuian Air Force is commanded by the Chief of Air Force (CAF), who is subordinate to the Chief of Defense Forces and the Department of Defense. As of 2020, the Kivuian Air Force primarily operates out of 5 air bases located in Kivu.
It operates the majority of the KDF's fixed wing aircraft, although both the Army and the Navy also operate aircraft in various roles. In wartime, the KAF provides support across a spectrum of operations such as air superiority, precision strikes, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, air mobility, space surveillance, and humanitarian support. In peacetime, the primary tasks are airspace surveillance and preperation for wartime conditions.
The KAF currently operates about 289 aircraft and 100 helicopters.

Personnel
