History

Overview

The men's national football team has existed since 1932. From the 1920s until 1956, women were considered 'restricted' from playing football. However, in 1956, the government stated that women were no longer 'restricted' but must not play with the men's team. After the establishment of the Monsilvan Republic in 1978, these archaic rules were abolished. However, it wasn't until 1995 that an advocation for starting a women's team as well as a women's international football tournament began in Monsilva. In 2001, the Monsilva Football Association created the women's national football team. Later, in 2005, the Women's Terraconservan Cup (association) was founded, with the first International Cup being held in 2006.

Nickname(s)

In Monsilva, the national team is commonly referred to as Huáng Zhīduì or Phoenix's Team. This name came from the name originally given to the men's team, Dragon's Team. As the Emblem of Monsilva has a dragon and a phoenix, the team thought it fitting for the women's team to use the other creature. Although rarely used outside Monsilva, Phoenix's Team is a common name within the country, and amongst Monsilvans living abroad.

Crest

Monsilva women's national football team crest.png

The Monsilva women's national football team crest consists of a yellow phoenix above an Association football ball, with a tricolor of the three colours of the Flag of Monsilva behind it. At the top of the crest is the acronym MFA, standing for the Monsilva Football Association. The phoenix is the main symbol of the team, having represented the team since its founding in 2001. The crest is almost identical to the men's football team crest, but the dragon is replaced with a phoenix.

Colors

Monsilva's first colors are red, blue and white. The colors are taken directly from the Flag of Monsilva. The first colors show red more prominently than white. The second colors are the same, but are displayed in a different order, with white being more prominent instead of red.
