The Second Gjorkan Republic was sovereign state that existed within modern day Gjorka from 1919 to 1972. The Republic was created following the surrender of the loyalists and socialists in the Second Gjorkan Civil War. The Second Republic was a military dictatorship led by a President who also served as Supreme Marshal of the Army. The Republic was extremely repressive and existed in a near constant state of war. Following a coup in 1971, the dictatorship was overthrown in the Black Revolution and replaced by the democratic Third Gjorkan Republic.
