Every country officially recognized by the TRA has a ccTLD (Country Code Top Level Domain). These TLD's are intented to be used to help identify what region a site operates in, if needed. They typically are used atop a gTLD however they can be used individually acting as the only TLD. For example www.smileshop.com.uwu uses both a gTLD and ccTLD to indicate that the location this website services is Tranquillia, www.smileshop.uwu also redirects and would serve the same purpose. Although ccTLD's are intended to help identify a websites operating region, there is generally no restriction placed on who or what purpose the ccTLD can be used for.
