Joseph McSheene Marcos (born December 5, 1951) was a Gjorkan Military General who served as President of Gjorka from 2006 to 2011. Prior to his election to the presidency he served as Supreme Marshal of the Army. Marcos was controversially the first Gjorkan president to be from a military background since the military dictatorship.
Joseph Marcos grew up in Rusynia, and attended National Military Institute of Gjorka, in Gjorka City. There he received a military education, and graduated top of his class. During his time in the military he slowly rose the ranks becoming well respected in the Gjorkan military. He was appointed by President Wilson Aldrich to be Supreme Marshal of the Army on October 15th, 1991 and served for 8 years until he resigned in 1999 to pursue a political career. He ran for President in 2001 and finished 2nd, but was unable to secure the Gjorka United nomination. He ran again in 2006 and was able to secure the nomination, and went on to handily defeated incumbent president Joe Wallace in the 2006 Gjorkan Presidential Election. He was an extremely controversial president, who ran a warhawk presidency. He increased the military budget immensely to the detriment of the economy which stagnated for the first time in 20 years. He was received the lowest approval poll rating on any president at 2% during the fourth year of his presidency. He barely won his parties nomination for president by 2%, and was defeated by a large margin in the 2011 Gjorkan Presidential Election.
