The 1971 Gjorkan Coup d'etat occurred in Gjorka on August 27, 1971. The Coup resulted in the Overthrow of the Gjorkan Transition Government following the death of Caelan MacRory and installment of Austin Tannerburg as de facto President of Gjorka. However, due to the coups confined nature to Gjorka City, Tanneburg failed to secure the support of various other military units throughout Gjorka. As these units mobilized to organize a counter-coup, and in response Tannerburg announced he would restore Gjorkan democracy in an attempt to give himself the support of the people. These events led to the Second Blue Revolution and eventual restoration of Gjorkan Democracy. The 1971 Coup is considered one of the most consequential events in Gjorkan history.
