Days without Zuid mention

The first known iteration of the record.

Days without Zuid mention, alternatively known as days since last Zuid mention, or days without, is a regional record-keeping operation fronted primarily by Paleocacher, since 24 September 2023. Started by Gagium, and continued additionally by Kivu, Abersiania, Jackson,[disputed – discuss] and Waffledogefern, it records the number of days since the mention of a controversial member of the Terraconserva Roleplay Association. It is primarily used to indicate frustration at the frequency of references to the member in the regional Discord, viewed by some as obsessive, since the member in question has not been a member of the region since February 2023.

Variations

An infamous variation, used as an argument against a suggestion by Desheria that he may be a modern version of Zuid.

The reports themselves have varied in their content and presentation. The first report, on 8 July 2023, contained the text "Days since last Zuid mention: 0", and nothing further. Eight days later, on 16 July 2023, the format changed to include a "High score", which, at the time, was inaccurate. On 24 August 2023, Paleocacher changed the format, with the first line changed to "Days without Zuid reference", and the second line changed to "Most Days without a Zuid reference:", which would later be used by Kivu on 29 August. On 16 September 2023, Paleocacher changed the format again, changing the first line to "Days without Zuid mention: 0", and the second to "Previous Record:". The capitalisation of the word "record" would then be dropped eight days later. Two days later, Tirol would attempt to change the format, with the only line being "days since last Zuid reference: 0 :sigh:", but this did not feature in any further reports.

The rogue report of Jackson on 30 September 2023 featured a unique format, with the word "mention" capitalised, and "High score:" replacing "Previous record:". This style of report has not been seen since. Another unique format, by Abersiania, a more trusted record-keeper, appeared on 11 October 2023; with "Days without mentioning Zuid: 0" replacing the first line, and "record:" replacing the second. Two days later, on 13 October 2023, New Illyricum posted another unique format for the report, being one line: "Days without Zuid Reference: 0 (Approx 2 hours), Previous Record:".

A variation on the report was used in a discussion on 27 July 2023 with Desheria by Gagium, who indicated frustration with Desheria's prior suggestion that Desheria (the nation the user controlled prior to his current nation, Girisko) was akin to the former user ("oh yea, that was indeed nonsense when i wasnt exactly sure how the rp worked (not to say that i still dont do nonsense, im basically the new Zuid)", with the justification that "it's honestly fitting, my nation always finds a way to be nonsensical"). His report, including the text "you weren't even around for Zuid why the fuck are you calling yourself the new Zuid", is the only example of a report's text being in directly reference to the content of the mention itself.

Jackson's 13 November 2023 "report"'s format, with both messages containing it widely regarded as faux reports.

On 13 November 2023, Jackson attempted to put forth a new format, with several old countries, including Zuid, "Velabruck", "Malgax", "GSAC", and "Zion". This was not in response to any mention of these prior roleplayers, though. He posted the report again on 16 November 2023, in response to a mention by Majocco, two hours before a legitimate report, by Gagium.

Gagium would change the format of reports again on 16 November 2023, with it staying consistent throughout every further report he made, with the new format replacing the first line with "Days since last Zuid mention: 0", and the second line with "high score:"; the notable difference from the faux Jackson report of 30 September 2023 being the non-capitalisation of the word "high".

A unique format was used by Paleocacher in his 11 December 2023 report, with a third line saying "Nitwit who broke the streak: :jammy:", the emoji being in reference to Jackson, who broke the streak. Paleocacher would go on to mention Jackson again in his 8 February 2024 report, with a third line saying "Days without Jammy spam pinging people: 0", and a fourth line with the regional emoji ":maldtroll:".

Waffledogefern's only report, on 13 December 2023, is viewed by many as the most high quality format seen thus far.

On 13 December 2023, Waffledogefern made his only report, with three lines instead of the traditional two: the additional line was "Last streak:", making it the only report to identify the number of days since the previous mention, instead of the number of days since the mention that prompted the report, which has caused some criticism to be directed to the main format of the reports[by whom?].

Zloveshchiy's report on 14 September 2024 has gained infamy[according to whom?] for a grammatical error contained within: the first and only line of the report was "Days without Zuid mentioned: 0", with "mentioned" being grammatically incorrect to use in such a scenario.

Controversy

The first wholly negative reaction to a report, at the genesis of the operation's infamy.

Reports widely receive negative reactions. There has been evidence that the reports are dreaded by those on the server, but not reviled ("Thank you Paleo, A reminder of our sins :pensive:" -- Kivu's reaction to Paleo's report on 15/09/23). To many, they are viewed as inevitable consequences of discussing the former member in question, with some members tagging the organisers of the operation whenever a mention does occur (an example being Pavulturilor's message "@Paleo HE SAID THE LINE" on 26/07/24, encouraging Paleocacher to make a report). Reactions to the reports themselves are not usually negative against those who make the report, usually taking the form of the regional emoji :waah:, or with typed screams of frustration.
